I am a wedding florist and have had the pleasure of working at the Grand Hall a handful of times over the last couple of years. The GH is hands down one of the most spectacular venues in KC! The venue and the staff are top notch! We hosted my daughter's wedding reception at the Grand Hall in 2018 and LOVED everything about it!

VENUE NIGHTMARE- I give this place one star because of the historical building and how beautiful it is kept. Other than that do NOT have your wedding here. After spending over $9,000 for the venue. We were harassed everyday of the week for payments. As if normal human beings can produce large amounts of money overnight. Jessica P. threatened my wedding due to the final payment when I could only pay that payday Friday. No remorse. Just money. This place is only about money even if you already made arrangements to pay they will still harass you. (To remind) No matter how much you spend here these women will not help you. The managers only lock and unlock doors for you and nothing else. If you chose this venue make sure you read the fine print and before paying them anything HIRE A COORDINATOR or else your wedding will be a fiasco and they will fine you a fee of $1000! They will not help you with even setting tables. What was supposed to be the best day of my life turned into a nightmare and I didn't even get my sparkler send off bc of there "restrictions" once again. Even though the building is insured they want you to provide extra insurance for your people which is a million dollar policy smh! I only had 6 sparklers for my bridesmaids to hold OUTSIDE THE BUILDING! Crazy right? If only I could do my wedding again I would and not chose this place. Waste of money. Also you will NEVER RECEIVE THE ACTUAL CONTRACT. You will receive bits and pieces via email when asked about certain parts. Never by hand. The remorse is fake. The bottom line is chose your venue wisely.

My husband and I toured many venues around Kansas City for our wedding. The moment we stepped into The Grand Hall we knew that this was the venue for us. Tyler (their Event Coordinator) gave us a personal tour of the space and he was so knowledgable and kind about answering any questions we had for our wedding weekend. The space was perfection, absolutely breath taking. It had marble, accents of gold...very regal and elegant. The Grand Hall offers the second floor Mezzanine to be used as our cocktail hour space offering sofas, lounge chairs and multiple rounds for people to stand at while our guests ate Hors D'oeuvres and drank alcohol while waiting for us to take our personal one-on-one photos on top of The Grand Hall's Rooftop Terrace. The venue also provided a bridal suite and a grooms suite for the 'getting ready' process. Dom, the Bar Manager, was very informative about which alcohol would suit our wedding day best and made sure to find us our preferred Champagne and we even got to choose a personal cocktail for both the bride and groom. The bartenders were extremely sweet and our guests loved how much fun they were having while serving everyone. Tyler and Dom were an amazing pair to work with and they made sure our wedding day was flawless. The space held our 170 person guest count very comfortably and the dance floor was extremely large for all of the tables that fit around it. We could not have imagined having our wedding reception anywhere else, the space was absolutely perfect. The Grand Hall has done an amazing job choosing Tyler and Dom to support us- we wouldn't have wanted to do it with anyone else!

As someone who has ONLY worked in the service industry since I could be employed, I've seen it all. But NEVER, have I experienced the professionalism and poise of a venue and staff like I did with the Grand Hall at Power and Light. I came as a wedding guest. I've heard talk about about this venue from networking and just being in the service industry, yet I'd never had the pleasure of viewing it.... STUNNING. I annotated every moment of the wedding experience (not to be snarky and snobby, but because I love the human experience). I paid attention to who was posted where during what event of the evening, how they were dressed, how I was approached, etc. I even so much as walked all away across the vast, elegant, mezzanine-esque second floor to the other waitstaff to see if they were just as professional as the others who had just served me a full flavored Malbec; they served me an excellent white wine with a smiles on their faces. The reception was out of this world. The alcohol selections were few but not understated. They got to the point (you can't be too picky at these functions) They had the go-to beers such as Coors Light, Bud Light, and even a couple craft selections such has KC Bier Dunkel! I was less interested in the gallivanting with the rest of the wedding goers because I didn't know many others than the bride and groom; so I spent my time getting to know the service staff behind the bar. I even had the pleasure of meeting the woman in charge. I believe her name was Jessica Pedraza. She explained to me how the selections are provided, how one goes about selecting the venue and viewing it, what packages are available, and most importantly, the booze packages. Ha! She was a wonderful experience all in herself. I complimented her on the wait staff and she gave me this proud mother grin and continued to talk them up, not herself. All I know is that, I came as a wedding guest, and now I want to find a man myself just to have a wedding here!
