The Fred

For the prices, the food and drink didn't measure up. My Mac was a little soupy and didn't have as much flavor as I'd expected. It was if the menu writer was a better writer than the chef was a cook. Ambiance was GREAT and the service was okay. So, all over the place rating-wise.

The hotel is beautiful and beautifully restored. The rooms are sizeable and comfortable. I would stay here happily! The downside is the restaurant. Service was great, ambience was lovely but the food was not so great. Prices were fine, but didn't feel like the meal was worth the price. My chicken fried steak was just a shade off burnt and very gristly. Gravy was not flavorful, garlic mashed potatoes were good. The green beans were not quite to Al dente - just too underdone for me. The cocktails didn't quite live up to the menu description. Overall, a great place to stay, but eat elsewhere.

'The Fred' wasn't busy, so we decided to eat in the restaurant versus The Brick. We sat by the Christmas tree and had a very nice quiet dinner. The decor gives an older vibe closer to the period. I got the Goat Cheese Lasagna, which appeared to be different. It was very good and the sauce had great flavor. Hubbie got the sirloin with veggies. It was cooked medium versus medium rare, but he enjoyed it, and there were no leftovers. Glad we were able to experience the restaurant.

Best place to eat boujie food, and have a good time. Their is live music in the brick room that is a bar that is only on Friday and Saturday. Order the Sicilian Steak Medium Rare. It comes with roasties, grilled zukini and squash, and blister grape tomatos with a balsamic drizzle, also topped with a fried piece of rosemary. YUMMY! Everything else is so good too you should try them out!
