I always love coming up to the Farmer's House. I stopped in for my annual Apple fritter fix. We got the bag of Apple fritters, the pulled pork sandwich and the frito pie. I also got a cup of the apple cider served cold and it was delicious. I love looking through the store and supporting this business and their mission. Can't wait to visit again.

This is a wonderful place to stop in, have a bite of their bbq ribs or pulled pork, cinnamon rolls or pie. You can even buy frozen pie to go! The property is rich in history, formerly an apple orchard, its setting is beautiful in Weston, MO. The country store is stocked full of jars of apple sauce, chow chow, jellies and other delectables. You can even buy old fashion toys like spinning tops and little rubber pigs that oink. Scarves and candles line the shelves and kitchen utensils as well. There is something literally for everyone! A great place to spend your money and the employee's is why:"The mission of The Farmer's House Market is to provide a community integrated hands on work environment that will provide youth and adults with developmental disabilities practical vocational skills. These skills will be learned by operating a cash register, making change, stocking shelves, interacting with customers, planning, tending and harvesting the market garden and so much more. But even more valuable than practical work skills, The Farmer's House Market is a place to cultivate self-esteem, grow a sense of self worth and harvest the confidence and passion that come from a job well done".What an awesome charity!

I love the concept of this little market on the way out of (or into) Weston. They teach high school students how to run a retail business and provide employment for developmentally disabled adults. We arrived too late in the afternoon to sample barbeque from the smoker in the front yard, but they do that. Inside they sell produce grown on the premises and a wide variety of gift type merchandise-toys, clothing, jams and jellies, home decor...you name it. Prices seem quite reasonable-I paid $12 for the same scarf a Crown Center shop got $16 for. The kids behind the counter were friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be there. What a great concept!

When Vaughan's closed a few years ago, they took a piece of our family history. We loved coming up as a whole extended family to picnic and pick apples every fall. The Farmer's House Market has dusted off all the best memories and added a dash of community spirit to make a wonderful experience. It is still the great old Vaughan's buildings but the purpose is to give developmentally challegned individuals the opportunity to learn new skills. From the charming food stand outside to the fresh herbs growing in the earth. When you enter the old building, the smells and flavors all come flooding back. We bought some of the herbs, some great relish, peaches, and a loaf of orange pound cake that was to die for. They are working with Red Barn across the road to raise fresh produce and they have a charming loft ready to rent for your group. It is a lovely short drive from downtown KC, and well worth it!
