The EGG

The Economic Growth Gallery seems to be ground zero for all things creative in the Historic Northeast Neighborhoods. My visit coincided with their 1st ever NE Arts Crawl. I was able to visit 5 of the 7 participating studios / galleries with The EGG being my first stop and longest stay. Four artists were showcasing their talent; including Margarita Freidman- a powerful arts activist and promoter in the city, besides being a portrait artist in her own right. I purchased a colored pencil drawing piece from artist Sheila Rekdal, her "Upcycled" pieces were also very captivating. There was also live music and Crane Beer samples during my 45 minute stay before heading on to the next gallery.I may not live in the neighborhood, but I will attend any arts event sponsored by The EGG and its various galleries under the NE Arts umbrella. Community engagement and collaboration at its best!
