One of my dress socks didn't survive the trip down to KC this week. The hotel gift shop didn't have any men's socks but gave me a tip about The Best of Kansas City in the Crown Center having dress socks. A convenient walk through the indoor catwalk from the Sheraton took a few minutes. The store is on the first level, near Shang's Tea House. The employee greeted me upon arrival and I found a variety of KC style socks to pick from. While I was there, I decided to pick up some KC style barbeque sauce. From the picture, you will see lots of great selections to choose from. I didn't think too long and blindly picked a jar. The cashier told me that was his favorite barbeque sauce but then, I wondered if he says that to everyone who buys a container of barbeque sauce? Overall, a nice walk to the stores from the hotel and a neat shop of gifts and KC items to pick from if you want some memories of your KC trip.

The girl with the half shaved head had a terrible attitude. I said thank you twice and so did my 5 year old daughter and she completely ignored us. Other than that their merchandise is okay but over priced.

Small little store with a small inventory. If you are looking for KC collectibles, gift items, or just a KC t-shirt, then this place isn't for you. If you want a boutique like gift, box set of BBQ mixes, then this is the place. I always want a post card or two, and my niece collects magnets, I did manage the post cards, but never found a magnet. After making a few selections, I went to the register to pay and the lady was taking an order over the phone and took a while to acknowledged I was ready for check out. Finally, she did let me know it would be a while, and once she was done, she did apologize for the delay.

I miss Kansas City terribly. I miss it so much that I wanted a gigantic panoramic photo of it hanging in my living room so I could see it every day. The best place to find this was The Best of Kansas City in Crown Center. When my husband and I went back to KC to visit last fall, this shop was on the top of my list for where I wanted to go. This shop has it all! Posters, postcards, t-shirts, CDs, food (lots of BBQ sauce of course!) and other touristy type stuff such as snow globes and keychains. I will admit it is expensive--I paid $40 for that gigantic panoramic photo hanging in my living room. But it was well worth it just to see a bit of home every day!

Okay tourists! Before leaving KC, here's your chance to bring a little something home to remember us by. The Best of Kansas City shop down in Crown Center offers some of the staple items for visitors and those who need a quick gift (kansas city related of course). The shop is dominated by you guessed it - barbeque. Sauce that is. You can pick up a variety of bottles including Gates and Jack Stack. Now to my two cents. Everyone who seems to live on the Missouri wants nothing to do with Kansas. Kansas Citians as well. So with that said, why is there so many Dorthy & OZ t-shirts in the KCMO shop, huh? Apparently Kansas and the yellow brick road can be justified as long as its a moneymaker. Politics and movies aside, I thought that shop was pretty small and lacking some character but there's always barbeque sauce.

There is some really cool stuff to buy in this store, but it is pricey. I really liked the framed aerial shots of Kauffman & Arrowhead Stadiums. They also had some old school black and white pics of 18th and Vine and well as the Plaza Lights. There is lots of cool stuff that people who appreciate Kansas City would like.I do find it funny that it is located in Missouri and they have a beefy display of Wizard of Oz memorabilia for sale. The movie is based on a farm in Kansas...no reference to Kansas City whatsoever. There is a pretty impressive variety of Kansas City BBQ sauces for sale as well as hot sauces. It's a great place to browse, but they are charging Crown Center and tourist prices. Not a spot for middle class locals who didn't just hit the lottery.

Probably an ok place for visitors to town. Lots of local bbq sauce and other locally made stuff at "gift shop" prices, located in Crown Center in Kansas City, Missouri. In light of that, why all the Wizard Of Oz merchandise? What does that have to do with Kansas City, Missouri? Dorothy was from Kansas. Kansas City is in Missouri. This store shouldn't be contributing to this city's identity crisis. And need I remind you, the scenes of Kansas were the only part of the movie filmed in black and white...

Arriving in Kansas City Union station was nice there were lots of nice shops and the week we were there they were having a model train expo which was cool. i went to the Best of Kansas City shop to get some souvenirs and I was pleasantly surprised to see all the nice offerings including all the famous Kansas City BBQ sauces and lots of Chiefs items!!! I overloaded on Chiefs items and got some magnets and shot glasses. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. Typical location gift shop I was happy to shop at.

On my way out of town, stopped here to grab a couple of things to send to my daughter who grew up in KC and now lives in France. They have a wide assortment of KC memorbilia, including calendars, T shirts, BBQ sauce, and jazz and blues CD's. I was lucky to be there when one of the muscians was marketing his CD. I was charmed and got one for myself.

Ordered some holiday gifts (bbq sauces) through the store to ship to LA. While some of the sauces were damaged in shipping, the managers Montica and Preston handled the situation professionally. I would definitely do business with them again and they have a great selection of sauces for anyone that's looking to bring a little BBQ back home with them.
