My frst review since ownership change!!Interior is unchanged. Service was as fast and pleasant as always. And I'm happy to report that the chicken shawarma is as delicious as ever. The pita bread was fresh and the hummus was wonderfully smooth and tasty.A little constructive feedback: I'd much prefer separate plates for lunch. 1st plate for the salad, pita and hummus 2nd plate for rice and meat Today my salad was half buried under my rice which meant it was hot and soggy by the time I dug it out. The kunafa is a wonderful dessert, go ahead be adventurous and order something other than baklava!

Today, my husband and I decided to grab lunch together, and it turned into one of those classic married debates: "What do you want to eat?" "Anything!" Then, like a lightbulb moment, we both remembered Basha, a spot we'd never tried before. Under new ownership, this place promised a fresh experience, and we were excited to check it out. From the moment we walked in, the warm ambiance and calming music set the tone for what would be a delightful meal. My husband, a coffee enthusiast, ordered the Turkish coffee, while I went for a mango juice. Both were absolutely delicious and the perfect start to our meal. Then the food arrived, and wow--every bite was a journey of comfort and flavor. The chicken curry was soft, creamy, and perfectly seasoned. The chicken shawarma had just the right kick of spices, and the rice? Simply incredible. We couldn't leave without dessert, so we ordered a baklava. The aroma alone was heavenly, but the first bite sealed the deal. It was like a warm hug, filled with love and the richness of spices. The pictures well it was so good that I forgot to take them! It would be next time! I truly recommend this place! The food was amazing, and the employees were incredibly kind and welcoming. If you haven't been to Basha yet, give it a try--you won't regret it!

I love Mediterranean food and stumbled upon this restaurant, so had to try. They've been in this location at Metcalf 103 for the last 12 years, per the owner. She came to our table to chat, sharing the restaurant serves mostly Egyptian style foods, those loved by her Egyptian husband. She was more enthusiastic and appreciated than the original server who could barely keep up with refilling our water. The interior could use some serious updates. It was dark and outdated. Had it not been so hot, we could've eaten outside in the courtyard of the building. Food was ok, not outstanding. The pita seemed to have been thawed from frozen. The schwarma was decent. Had a kenafa for dessert which was truly delicious. I'm glad I gave it a try but will probably not add to my regular rotations.

The way I gasped when I opened up the creamy chicken curry order. I was already dismayed that the outside of the restaurant smelled like raw sewage when we pulled up to pick up our to go order, but when I went inside and there was loud talking but not a single person was visible or ever came to the door to greet me, I knew this would be a negative experience. Eventually I saw the signage that indicated that there was a takeout shelf to the right behind the counter. The bag felt light for nearly $50 worth of food before our 20% tip but when we got home, we couldn't believe what we saw. The $5 a cup lentil soup was like the dregs of one soup, split into two cups that they then watered down to fill 2/3 up. They looked like two different soups, if we could even call it that. For $20, the chicken shawarma was overpriced. The salad it came with was extremely sad. The hummus, was anger inducing. See the red sauce on it? You know how usually you get a drizzle of olive oil? Not here. The red was FRANKS RED HOT SAUCE. The creamy curry chicken for $20 is criminal. It was barely flavored with curry and to fill up only half a styrofoam box with it and nothing else, not a side salad, nothing was insulting. It wasn't good enough to justify that price. Both dishes had dried, hard rice. The chicken was dry. The highlight of the food we had was actually the garlic sauce--sufficiently garlicky. The pita that came with the meal was bloated by steam. I couldn't recommend going here, even if it was the only Mediterranean restaurant in the entire state.

Food - as of say 8/2024 - Mediocre and NOT as good "as it used to be" .Service - okAmbiance - okThis place, several years ago, was THE place to go for a good beef/etc shwarma with really good saffron rice, sadly, that's no more the case. There are now a lot of other Med Food places in KC (some even a small hole in the wall) that are better/best.They used to have a 2nd location @ 135th and Metcalf, but it seems once that died a few years ago this main location lost it's luster.Even the Turkish Coffee isn't what it used to be.

Yesterday afternoon we went thrift shopping at Blessings Abound when we spotted this place. We walked over after reading some good reviews. When we walked in we thought they were closed. My dad warned me about places that didn't have any people eating there. There was another couple sitting but otherwise it was empty. The hostess (not sure if she's the owner) greeted us and walked us over to the booth. The inside was really clean looking and the music set the vibe. The person that sat us was nice and after a few minutes came over to take our order. We ordered the chicken shawarma dinner plate, my husband ordered hummus and pita and my daughter was craving dessert. We also ordered a hibiscus drink and a mango juice. Let's start off with the hummus... Yikes! I've never had it so watery and we were really confused by the big glob of sauce in the middle. We weren't sure if it's Tabasco or Buffalo sauce. The pita was okay. The hibiscus tasted good almost like traditional Mexican Jamaica but more sweeter. The mango juice tasted like it was from the store like simply mango. My daughter ordered the Lebanese night and she liked it. It tasted like something we've had before. The rose water infusion makes it taste flowery but it wasn't bad. I ordered an order of fries for the table and omg. We called these chicken fries. How on earth do you get a deep fried chicken taste into fries?! Anyways they smelled like fried chicken and tasted just as bad. Let's move on to the good. The rice had a nice flavor to it and it complimented the chicken shawarma. The chicken was flavorful and not dry at all. The only thing I didn't like on that plate was the garlic sauce. It really tasted like they took mayo and added dill to it. Overall for the price and quality of the food we don't be coming back.

Yummy food for an affordable price. Their hummus and pita is . Only reason I gave it a 4-star rating is due to the fact that the last couple times I went there they seemed a little understaffed and the staff were a little rushed/didn't seem the most patient. Otherwise good experience!

It's fine... I ordered it through grubhub because it's not far from my office. It was packaged in two small boxes instead of a larger one? And the pita bread was cold- absolutely no attempt to warm it before putting in the foil. Hummus was fine. The chicken was over seasoned for my liking, and when I walked in no one was at the front for a couple of minutes. I did see they have some cute seating outside. With so many amazing Mediterranean spots to eat at, this one ranks low. The least they can do is warm up the pita

I came in craving a homemade meal and wow was I blown away! My partner and I shared one meal and still came home with leftovers. We wanted to try the Kibbah which is stuffed with ground beef and onions. They had fantastic flavor and was seasoned very well. We also ordered the baba ghanouj served with warm pita bread, I prefer this over hummus personally. The last thing we shared was the creamy chicken and sun-dried tomatoes, it comes over a bed of rice. The service was great overall and super fast! We were in and out in probably 30-40 minutes. It's such a cute and unique restaurant tucked away off of Metcalf.

Got some takeout during the snow storm. The owner was very friendly. The chicken shawarma and gyro platters were delicious. Really big portions. The Hummus was so delicious and the baklava was divine! Can't wait to go back.
