The Barn at Riverbend

Amazing outdoor space just minutes from KC. Classic upscale country venue space with all the trimmings to provide an elegant event. Seating indoors and outdoors for this wedding and dinner created intimate experience while affording plenty of space for mingling during cocktail hour. Definite connectivity between ceremony/cocktails/dinner/dancing. Small play area for kids and unique, discreet fairy theme was very cute. The only downside to this place is I live too far away to use it for my daughter's weddings!!Book this space it, is really special.

This is a really nice venue for SMALLER events. The decor is quaint and rustic. Big props on having the outdoor wedding alter in a grove of shade trees rather than in the sun. Really nice facility. With that said, the space is VERY poorly utilized by the organizers. The barn where the dinner/dancing was supposed to happen is oddly broken up between different rooms. We were supposed to dance in a brightly lit small room that they closed off from the rest of the dining area and shut the music off entirely to the outer dining area. There was no ambiance at that point and nobody was into it, despite giving it the ol' college try with a whole group of fraternity brothers. The Dj did not help matters at all either. He was on his phone the entire ceremony, missed every single mic cue, did a terrible job balancing levels, and played THE WRONG ENTRANCE SONG for the bride. He would also keep hitting skip on his playlist as a song had played a few seconds. He seemed to be on staff at the venue. I'm giving three stars because the staff was really polite, and it's a very pretty place, but they seem to have no idea that they have these glaring problems.
