The Bar Olathe

Great service and great food. We enjoy the music variety and the friendly people. The wings rival the well-known places and the sweet potato fries with the marshmallow sauce is a worthy dessert, I mean side! Karaoke nights are fun, too!

Great place for a drink and food. The Bar has a neighborhood bar feel to it. The staff is excellent and attentive. Reasonable prices. Very crowded during NFL games so get here early.

Sometimes when one thing is really bad, no matter how good other things are, it will never make up for that one bad thing.I was in the neighborhood and decided to stop by and get some food, as it was next to the T-Mobile store I visited.Let me say, this place was packed on a Friday. It had an older, mostly male crowd, and most of the folks I saw there were more into their clique than mingling. What can you say, I'm a mingler. Whether I go to bars with a couple of friends or by myself (if I want to get out of the house), I like to talk to other folks. So, while the atmosphere was near raucous, it was also segregated to their groups, but I find that a bit of the KC atmosphere. If you want the "Cheers" experience when hitting your local bar, this is not for you, at least south of the 435.Anyway, what ruined any positive experience for me was the service. At best, my server seemed exasperated, at worst she was simply just rude. It was clearly the worst service I've experienced in KC. There were several things that made her the worst server.1. She was very curt, with a condescending attitude and always ended what she said with a sigh, as if she did not like talking to people.2. She was allergic to smiles....and strangely, making eye contact.3. She would not stop at my table, even when dropping off food. She would plop the drink or food as if I were a stop and her bus did not stop at my table.I was actually glad that she stopped only a few times at my table as her attitude just got more on my nerves every time she rolled on by.As for the food, it was okay, but even if it were 5 stars (it's not), I will definitely not come back. I MUCH prefer the Other Place, which is just as busy...but with servers who actually want to be there.

I recently visited The Bar in Olathe for 'Taco Thursday' though I'm now not finding any evidence of this being an ongoing occurrence online. I'm actually not even seeing tacos on their menu, so without a picture, I would have thought I made this up. I ordered off-the-menu black bean tacos / modified the tacos to be more 'vegan' and appreciate that the staff/kitchen was willing to do so. These were pretty good and as you'd expect tacos to be. With 5 locations across the KC area, The Bar is a good spot with a wide selection menu options.

Well, unfortunately we returned after our last attempt at visiting. I'm not sure why we attempted again after being seated the last time and never served but we sure did. This time around, we were greeted and seated quickly, with a server coming to our table right away. Drinks and food came fast but it was just not good. We ordered mozzarella sticks, sweet potato fries, and a loaded chicken quesadilla. You can see in the pictures that the condiments, all of them just do not look right, to the point you can't discern what is marshmallow fluff, ranch, or sour cream. I casually and politely mentioned that the condiments tasted nothing like they should and were all watered down, she stated they are made in house and was not aware why they would be "off." You make your own marshmallow fluff? Your own sour cream? I highly doubt it! Maybe the ranch and marinara. We will not attempt to visit again.

I visited The Bar this week to meet up with some friends and unfortunately, it was not great. The experience was also dampened by staff and patrons smoking on the patio while we tried to enjoy our meal.I ordered the Southwest Burger cooked to medium, and a side of fries. The burger lacked any real spice or heat, despite being topped with jalapenos and pepper jack cheese. The jalapenos were from a jar or can, and were piled on the burger ice cold. It was a decent bar burger, but nothing I'd seek out.The fries looked delicious, but were super greasy, soggy, and under-cooked. They looked great when they initially arrived to the table, but I ended up leaving 3/4th of them behind.Overall, there are better options in this part of Olathe. I'd probably give this a three star rating despite the food issues, but allowing staff and patrons to smoke on the patio where I'm trying to eat isn't for me.

Just came in for a couple beers. The bartender here is super efficient and asks your name/remembers it. Has to be 20 people around the bar and he still calls everyone by name. Impressive.

I love The Bar! I live in Texas but always make time to visit when I'm in Olathe. The food is delicious (try the loaded fries!) and the customer service is top notch. Recently I was looking to buy some gift cards for my family in Olathe. I called and spoke with Kaylie, and she not only helped me with the gift cards over the phone, but she offered to mail them directly to my family members so they'd arrive in time for Christmas. Seriously stellar service, and it was so much appreciated! I can't wait to visit again!

Great food and drinks! They have an awesome patio too!! They have multiple tv's which makes it a great atmosphere for gamedays.

Food is always great and service excellent! Love when weather 8lis nice enough for sitting on the patio. Be sure to get the sweet potato fries with marshmallow dip and funnel cake fries for dessert.
