My friend and I call this place old lady-chic. They're bedding often has exaggerated floral patterns that go beyond dated into this sort of fashionable realm...we both really like it and can recognize its odd appeal from spending too much time at our grandmother's houses, I'm sure. I like walking through the Plaza location, it's airy and interesting (although if you aren't a 50 year-old yuppie, don't hold your breath to be greeted at the door.) The prices go above and beyond what I'll be able to afford in bedding for the next 20 years, but a girl can dream can't she?I fell in love with this dreamy classic, romantic-looking cradle with a golden silk canopy draped around the four posts - for a regal baby with wealthy parents. The price tag is like $2,000, but it would look magnificent in a well-planned nursery, a mother's dream crib. Last time I was inside, I was all too coolly ignored...so bad in fact, I wondered why they spent so much effort ignoring some people and not others! And when I walked to the back of the store, I guess I caught their eye because one woman was sent to "check" on me...basically, to see if I was stealing. Oh yes! What I would have loved to take from the towel department (sarcasm)! Beyond this, Scandia Down is a place to escape in. It has beautifully detailed home pieces and a woman who enjoys decorating with an either exotic or old-fashioned flair (they somehow cover both tastes quite well) - would be happy to look around one day while window shopping on the Plaza.

One of the area's I splurge in life is on my linen's. My bed linen's and towels are where I celebrate my sensual side. Self care and love for myself. It's a daily reminder that I am worth it. Beth Mahon has taken care of me over the past five years when we wanted to add those small touches of daily pleasure's into our day to day lives. Sometimes those little things can make a difference to your day. Thank you Beth for the individual attention and personal service.

The items at Scandia Down are very posh and over-priced. They have a delightful array of soaps, hand towels, throw pillows and decorative, scented candles, but this is certainly not a place that inspires adjectives like "exciting." There are many objects that are quite lovely, but much of the bedding and decorative linens border on "dowdy" with floral patterns that are anything but youthful. My greatest praise for Scandia Down is for the bed frame that I purchased here. It sits holds the box springs a full 18-inches above the floor, making it possible for a grown man to climb under the bed if necessary. (Anyone who has ever tried to take a reluctant housecat to the vet knows how wonderful this feature might be!) Scandia Down has models of some of the charming metal bedframes on the floor, and a thick catalog from which a bed can be ordered in a variety of styles, sizes and finishes.

Expensive: but it was the only place in town that had exactly what I was looking for. Marlys helped me, and she was able to select the colors and size sheets I was needing just from talking to me on the phone. I recommend them, but control your impulses. They have nice things. Lol.

Came here to buy wedding gifts in fall of 2012. I found the array of scented hand and laundry soaps to be impressive given the size of the store. However, the exquisite quality of the down product is also reflected in atmospheric prices that exclude most casual shoppers. Buyer beware the $300 pillow indeed!

This is a beautiful store with great things inside of it, but it also houses some of the worst customer service I have ever encountered in not one, but three different visits. Not having the ability or the desire to spend over two hundred (or much much more) dollars a pillow seems to make the sales staff here at Scandia Down not have the ability or the desire to offer friendly, effective customer server! Megan, an assistant sales manager, takes the cake for having the most arrogant, least appreciative and rude attitude I have come across since moving to KC! Maybe $75 per pillow isn't a lot of money to spend for a lot of people, but it is for me. I'm happy to do so if that equals quality, which I believe it does for the product but it sure the hell doesn't for the customer service. I will happily give the big corporate giant Target my money next time over what I received here at Scandia Down. I was hoping and expecting so much more from this place, if only the service would match the product quality. Three strikes and you're out, never again Scandia Down and I will happily spread the word about this business to anyone willing to listen.

After reading a recent review about getting ignored and being treated not well, I thought it was my imagination. I live close to the Plaza and was waiting for my wife who was at a near by shop. I am African American and a physician who was in very casual clothes after getting off a shift at my hospital midday to meet up with my wife. I entered Terrasi Living looking for several items for a new bedroom we were decorating. While looking for some items I was never approached by anyone even after about 8 minutes. Another couple entered the store who was Caucasian and was right next to me looking at similar items. An older lady immediately worked by me and engaged the couple standing a foot from me. I then moved to a different section of the store to look at some additional items. To my surprise instead of someone coming over, they simply observed me like I was about to steal something. After reading the previous review I knew this was not my imagination but a deliberate move to profile me based on my color. I didn't think this still existed especially down in the Plaza. I was prepared to by several items by decided to by past any business to them. As I walked out I was observed as though I had stolen something. I felt like this was "Whites Only" allowed environment. Wow, for me this pure profiling of an African American, I did find out that the women was most likely the owner helping out. My friends will hear about this experience especially my friend at the Kansas City Star who is a journalist for local stories.Very shocked, and I did not imagine this type of treatment.

The home design consultants are fantastic! They are all about the relationship with the customer, and this keeps me coming back. The products they sell are top of the line, and I especially like the Grange Furniture! It is pricey, but it is made of solid wood. After my two grandsons play on the coffee table for years, I can actually refinish it.
