Tawanda’s Cafeteria

Checked out the Black-owned spot Tawanda's Cafeteria in Jefferson City, and it was a solid experience overall!The staff were super friendly and professional, which added a nice touch. The decor inside was on point and created a welcoming vibe.For food, I tried: * Fish - unfortunately, not my favorite. The batter was a bit too thick, and the fish lacked seasoning. * Green beans and mashed potatoes with gravy - both were pretty good and flavorful. * Cornbread - decent but didn't seem as fresh as I'd hoped. * Apple caramel cake - this was a winner! Tasty and a great way to end the meal.One disappointing note: I was excited to try the egg rolls I saw featured on their website menu, but they were crossed out on the in-store menu, which was a letdown.Parking here is not an issue, which makes visiting even easier. The prices are great, so I'd consider stopping back to give their chicken wings a try since the fish didn't hit the mark for me.Overall, it's a nice spot to support, and I'm curious to explore more of their menu!

Tawanda's has delicious food! Especially liked the candied yams and mac & cheese. Cool vibe, too.

Excellent food and wonderful staff! The Soul Rolls are very unique! A warm, inviting atmosphere!

Ate here a few days ago. Had the fried catfish and meatloaf. Wow - oh wow! Plus the sides (mashed potatoes/gravy, cabbage, mac n cheese, beans) - This was the best meal ever! Huge portions and real food!!! We plan to be back soon! They were so accommodating and nice. Downhome and friendly.

Food was way overpriced, small portions, mediocre taste, dry egg roll things. Less than average food. Could have stayed home and made better tasting food. Good luck with your business.

Amazing soul food! Definitely recommend all of it and especially the fish!! Sides Mac and cheese and cabbage also great. When you visit try the soulful rolls, can't go wrong with any of them!!
