Tacos are flavorful when I got them. There is like a topping bar where you can load the tacos. Also salsa available as well. Some are pretty spicy! Service was okay- just straight forward Setting was pretty chill casual

Food is good, service is good, prices are expensive though IMO, although portions are decent and ambiance is nice taqueria setting.

Late review:Earlier this Wednesday, I went to this place for a late lunch. Looks like they have increased the prices in their menu or I maybe wrong. I was planning to get Burritos (coz I love their burritos) I felt 15$ is too much for a burrito. Then I ended up getting the tacos. (Birria, Tripa, Lengua, Carnitas) Tacos were so good especially the Tripa. I loved it. Carnitas could've been a little better. I always liked their salsas. Hot, fresh & good.

Good but definitely not the best street tacos in Kansas City. It's true that Taqueria La Nueva is no frills, food first, but the food that came out was slightly underwhelming for how well-loved this restaurant is. My group and I shared the taco platter, which is 22 tacos split across 4 types of meats (we got the carnitas, the carne asada, the al pastor, and the lengua). The al pastor was really strong, but the lengua was tough and the carnitas were almost flavorless. Even the standard salsa was underwhelming and tasted mostly like oregano. The picture shows the tacos the way they came out (no onions, no cilantro) but they had a full toppings bar available with limes, salsas, onions, and cilantro. The staff was great and the service was fast, but I can't say I'd want to come back again for almost $3 an a-la-carte taco. If you're looking for kickass street tacos for a way better price, check out Bonito Michoacan in Olathe, Cinco de Mayo Taqueria in Belton, or Tortilleria San Antonio in downtown KC.

We decided to try this restaurant based on the reviews. We didn't realize that you had to make orders at the counter, once we walked up to order we were greeted nicely and quickly. I was glad to see they had mostly corn tortillas. My husband ordered shrimp fajitas without any tortillas and it came with rice and beans and there is a walk up small bar to add sauces or some chopped condiments. I had the B on corn tortillas (deep fried) . The food was fresh and came out quickly but VERY GREASY, and the Birria had an odd spice taste that I've never had with other restaurants . The corn tortillas they were deep fried in, were a reddish in color and very greasy and the consume' was extremely oily and didn't taste good. My husband took his leftover shrimp fajitas home and the platter was soaked in grease when he scraped them into the to go container. The condiment bar needed to be cleaned and so did the floor of the restaurant. It's very dark and some areas had missing lights.

A good place to grab authentic tacos! This place never disappoints! There is so much flavor in these tacos and is always so filling! The staff is nice be helpful as well.

Great authentic stop for some great street tacos, salsa, queso and so much more. Full bar but we did not try the margarita or mojitos.... Maybe later. There were a few different types of salsa which were great. We had the street tacos to get some protein in-between soccer games. The person who took our order what helpful to ensure the street tacos I ordered were celiac safe so gluten free for the win! We will be back for sure!

Every time I come here for lunch with my coworkers, the food is consistent and fast. Prices aren't too bad either, and I'm especially in love with their loaded fries at the moment. I also really appreciate the toppings & salsa bars that are self serve. I can get as much as I want without feeling guilty for flagging down a waiter. My only cons are occasionally their queso can be just a little bit of a salt bomb on the loaded fries & it looks like water is not free (the salsas are hot so beware). Overall a solid no frills option for a lunch or take out.

I was recently at a wedding and they had food catered from this place and it was a huge hit. It's been a week and I just was driving home and had a conversation with my husband about how good those tacos sound.Definitely memorable

The main guy who is at the register is a joke. I ordered 3 birria tacos and they were made incorrectly and I went to the front and asked for it to be fixed and he flat out told me no. I asked if I could pay more to get it fixed. He said no. He then only gave me 1 taco after screaming at me and talking/belittling me to the other workers. I told him that I could understand what he was saying and then he got mad and then he was making small remarks to me after. I do come here probably once a week but I will not be coming back. The food is OK but not worth the hype. HORRIBLE customer service and I can't believe that this was me in the situation.
