Tanner's Bar & Grill

I like Tanners in general and yes prices are killing us all but come on. Check my picture - That's an extremely dark $9 sugar free red bull and bottom of the barrel vodka. Won't be back.

Our burgers were warm but our onion rings and fries were definitely NOT warm when they arrived. Our server stood and watched us eat and didn't check on us much to be able to say anything about it.The onion rings and fries, if hot would have been perfect. The burgers were sadly unseasoned and bland.

Stopped in to grab a bite before a meeting we had Tuesday, I was thinking they might have a taco special and they did. The place was clean and pretty slow with not a lot of customers. The waitress came over as she was sitting in the dining room and I didn't actually no she was a waitress. I asked about the specials and she did go over the Tuesday taco special, I felt a little rushed but I did place my order for the nachos and my husband got the taco special. I noticed that after she rang our food back she went back to sitting In dining area with her friend. I enjoyed the food, it was pretty good, the service was lacking attention and was very different, seems wait staff would be up and ready to help not sitting and visiting. If we are in the area I might seek a different option next time.

Just got the potato skins appetizer as a meal. It was slightly disappointing. Two of them were a bit burnt. But overall they were ok. I mean, they are potatoes after all lol. ‍ good vibes inside though.

Tanner's is a chain Sports Bar, and all the locations offer the same food and similar levels of service. But this location is my go-to, primarily because of the gigantic and beautiful big projection TV screen that hangs on the wall at the far end of the main dining area. If you want to watch a game while you're out with friends or having dinner, there simply isn't any place in Kansas City that I'm aware of that is more enjoyable. If you aren't interested in the main game that evening (usually the Chiefs, Royals, or Jayhawks on most nights) then simply turn to one of the other multitude of regular size flat screens that ring the walls in the upper and lower seating areas. Many other sports bars feature TVs with faded screens or less than perfect images. Not this place - every TV looks great.But I don't only frequent Tanner's for the TVs, although that is reason enough. I really enjoy the food too. We almost always start out with a bowl of white queso, but their pretzels and cheese dip and other appetizers are good too. Pork tenderloins are famous in the Midwest and Tanner's version doesn't disappoint. I was recently surprised when I ordered a plate of tacos. A sports bar isn't the type of place where I would usually order Mexican food, but I was in the mood so I threw caution to the wind. The tacos were good, but they didn't really taste like "restaurant tacos." I found the tacos to be almost exactly like what I would make at home, well actually more like what my wife would make at home because she makes them much better than me.Tanner's is famous for their wings and "chicken lips" which are basically chicken tenders. Be sure to try them fried, flavored, and charred - they're delicious that way. I was also surprised by the strip steak sandwich I had recently. Once again, this isn't something I would normally order in a Sports bar (I usually stick with burgers, nachos, and chicken wings), but I was in the mood so I gave it a shot. You definitely won't mistake their strip for one at an expensive steakhouse, but for $12.49 it was really really good - cooked just right, tender meat, with those criss-cross grill marks that make it look like the cook really knows what he's doing. And don't forget the salads, they're good too!My wife and I often eat here on our way home from Chiefs games or to watch the Royals play while we have dinner on a Summer evening. But I like this place enough we'll probably start coming here even when there isn't a game to watch. And that's probably the nicest compliment you can pay to a sports bar.

A good place. Our weekly group was looking for a new place after a horrible experience at Barley's on 119th and found this place. Food is good. Service has been excellent (shout out to Brandi) and they have a reasonable beer selection. Its a bit dated but a good neighborhood place.

Came into Tanners on a nice hot July day. Ordered a couple draft beers with my wife, they came out hot and in a plastic cup. Asked the waitress about getting a cold beer in a glass that beer is supposed to come instead of the warm beer I was brought. Was offered a cold glass to pour my warm beer into to "hopefully" help. It's probably a one time thing but this shouldn't ever happen.

This place is amazing. Karlee was our waitress and she was "at the right place, at the right time" every single time. Facilitated a group of 10-15, and took care of everyone! Will absolutely recommend this location!

Easily my favorite bar in the area and the food is great. Never had a bad item on the menu and Karlee has always been super fast and helpful.

Karlee has served us multiple times and always been superb. She is attentive, polite, and goes above and beyond. Out of all the local bars I get the best service everytime I come in and she waits on our table.
