Swinging Bridge Cafe

Fantastic, place for a casual meal. Unbelievable customer service! Traveling thru the area and stopped for dinner. Restaurant was terribly understaffed this evening. Apparently the waitress was a no show. Russell, cook, cashier, etc was working alone. He clearly advised us that there would be a wait. We were in no rush, so it was not a problem. Juanita, (an off duty employee) was there for dinner with her family, jumped in and started servicing the tables. What an absolute joy, she was!We spent a wonderful evening at this quaint little place. Ate and talked. We loved every minute. Great food and friendly service! Had the country fried steak and it was delicious. Definitely worth a stop if your nearby.

This is my all-time favorite place to eat on earth. The service is always good and so is the food. I love the decorations and the vibe of the place. My favorite meal to order is their hot hamburger. Yummy!

I travel to Longton, Kansas about once a year to visit family. I normally just stay in Longton and I may travel to Independence. Moline is a short distance tot he West of Longton and I was bored so I drifted over there. I saw the Swinging Bridge Lodge and noticed they had a café so I stopped to get a cheeseburger. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger. They have two sizes of patties: a 5 ounce and I believe a 6 or 8 ounce. I don't remember which but I ordered the larger size. The tomatoes, red onions, lettuce, bun were very fresh. The bacon was great. The patty was very juicy. I would rate this bacon cheeseburger in the top 10 I've had. I went back with my mother the following day and ordered the 5 ounce patty. It was also a fantastic choice. My mother had chicken strips. I didn't try them but she liked them. I can say they looked very moist and crunchy and the portion was generous. I also had tatter tots both times. They were fresh and crisp. I will try something else next visit. I suggest folks give this café a try. It was worth it.
