We popped into Sunrise on 39th for a family breakfast before needing to head up to the Northland this morning. It was a great experience. Our server was attentive and gave great recommendations. I had the chorizo biscuits and gravy which exceeded my expectations. My favorite part of the meal was the unexpectedly decadent iced coffee! My only two thoughts were that service was a smidge slower than I expected because it seemed like they had a lot of delivery orders. I also wished they had a children's menu as we just ordered our toddler daughter some hash browns. Honestly neither of these things were a big enough deal to me to knock off a star in my rating.

This time around my favorite entree wasn't what I remembered. My egg was cooked chard mot over medium and it took until we were done to get another. The skillet itself had potatoes that weren't quite tender but still a bit hard and the seasoning was missing that I feel in love with. I also switched out my drink to spicy pina mezcal as the other was too tart and sour. I appreciated allowance to switch out.

My overall rating is 4.5. Let's start with the food: I had the Huevos Rancheros. I have to admit I've not tried this at a lot of places, but I did based on other reviews. It was excellent. They come with two eggs, any style, and a side. I chose the rancheros potatoes. This is a meal I will crave and drive me to come back. The atmosphere is a little loud, but I enjoy the activity of happy chatter while I'm out. The only partially negative comment I have is the slower than expected service. I know it was busy, but it seemed to take longer than I expected. The good thing was the food was hot, so it's still a win. It's definitely worth a try

This was a visit on a Sunday after church (just down the street). The place was bustling when we arrived, but they found us a table straight away and we were off!. Service was great and so was the food.I would recommend the owner put some soft textures on the wall to lower the din of a busy dining room. It was loud. It was better as it started to clear. I would return, but AFTER the rush. Whew!

Delicious! We stopped here for brunch on a whim and enjoyed it. I was taken initially with the charm of the interior, nice and casual with some character to it. There was a table ready when we arrived for us to be seated and service was friendly. I really enjoyed the Crab Cake Benedict and Raven enjoyed the Ranchero Skillet (I tried a few bites of it myself). Great flavors! Service was a bit on the slow side and a little clumsy at times. We agreed they seem a little short staffed, especially for peak brunch/lunch times. I really hope they can improve on this because the food seems very good! Compliments to the chef.

Sunrise on 39th St is an excellent spot for breakfast with a unique Day of the Dead theme. The mural on the rear wall adds a vibrant touch, and the bar offers a good selection of tequila. The atmosphere is quietly busy, creating a pleasant dining experience, and the coffee is excellent, perfect for starting the day.I tried the Bi-color Omelette, which was fantastic. It came with a mix of sautéed peppers, onions, zucchini, and artichoke hearts, all topped with crumbled feta cheese. The omelette, made with three white eggs, was light and fluffy. The ranchera potatoes on the side were delicious, and the small fruit cup with finely sliced pineapple, strawberries, and cantaloupe was fresh and tasty. The aroma was fresh and savory, with a hint of sweetness from the vegetables and cheese. The combination of creamy feta and crisp veggies made each bite delightful. The Divorced Eggs were another highlight. This dish featured two fried corn tortillas, each topped with an egg over easy, smothered in distinct sauces--one with a rich, creamy white sauce and the other with a vibrant red sauce. The plate also had well-seasoned ranchera potatoes and flavorful black beans sprinkled with a touch of cheese. The mix of roasted corn, savory beans, and spicy sauces created a wonderful blend of flavors. The eggs were smooth and paired perfectly with the crispy tortillas and robust sauces, making for a satisfying and delicious meal.Overall, Sunrise on 39th St is a wonderful breakfast spot with a unique ambiance, great service, and delicious food. Definitely a unique gem; and I would absolutely dine again.

Ummmmm where has this restaurant been my whole KC life?)???!,!,!, First off, I LUUUV it here. Since the first time I ate here (a couple months ago), I've been here 5-6 times now so it's safe to say, I'm addicted. I'm usually huffing & puffing at the chilaquiles they serve around here but I really like it at sunrise because its always still crunchy by the time it gets to me, the food has been a HIT every time I've come. The servers are always attentive even on a slow weekday, they still try to care which is always appreciated. The ambience is what sold me when I first came, with modern latin-hispanic american vibes but still super quaint & homey! I'll most likely put this on my favorite brunch places in KC to tell allllll my friends about !!

Found this cute little spot thanks to Yelp!Good size space, with plenty of tables. Service was nice and friendly, kitchen did take a bit long but nothing too unbearable. Food was good. Everything on the menu looked great, I'll definitely have to come back and try their chilaquiles and omelets. It wasn't busy when we arrived but filled up quick, around 11 am! I think this place is fairly new. I definitely see it becoming a breakfast staple in the Westport neighborhood. Convenient private parking lot.
