Looking for a good challenge, sunflower is a hilly track in bonner springs. Front nine starts with 5 wide open holes, then the trees begin to tighten things up. Backside is not as tight, but rolling hills, keep offering all the challenges any golfer would want. The wind can change this course considerably, the greens are in great shape and fair, minus some sloping from back to front, where a putt past the hole can end up in the fairway. The traps could really use some TLC, as there's hardly any sand in some. This can be typical of public courses in the area. No GPS on the carts, so it's old school 150 and 100 yard stakes. If the price is right, you'll enjoy spending 4 hours fighting the challenges of sunflower hills.

I'm giving this only 3 stars purely for the great layout. Well designed holes and plenty long. It would have gotten a higher review but the course is in terrible shape. Greens had patchy dead spots, the rough and around the greens were hard and many bare or thin spots. The traps also had grass growing in them and the edges weren't trimmed. You can tell this is not just because it's in the fall and would have to be an on going problem. It is a well designed course however

This course is looooooooong and hilly. It is one of the few courses in the area that actually reaches 7000 yards or more. In their case though, it plays 7001 and is a par 72. It was remodeled in 2003 and now has Zoysia fairways which is AWESOME! Anytime you can play on Zoysia you have a better lie. You just have to be able to play the fairway ;)The greens range from small to large and the only downside is that late in the summer the greens start to get a little disease and discoloration. Most people repair their divots so you can play a good line to the hole. I would not recommend walking this course on a hot day. 7001 yards is no joke on this course. There are a lot of hills and you will be exhausted by the 12th hole. Other than that, it is a great place to play.

I have been playing here for years ... actually started here at junior golf. This is a very long and challenging golf course, not the best for a beginner. I generally walk 18 holes, but the back 9 will wear you out for sure. Prices are great in the afternoons (15 dollars). I would advise this course for a golfer looking for a challenging course.

This is a fun course but it is hilly and long total the course is over 7,000 yards long so if you are going to walk I recommend only playing 9 holes. But overall the course is a good price I only payed $14 for 18 holes but I walked so it was less and the staff is great and the food is good too. I will definitely come back and play again and I would highly recommend. Overall great course.

One of my favorite courses. Good layout. Little bit of everything. Well groomed, reasonably priced, ( I usually catch the twilight rate ). Seems to be a popular league venue.
