Ashley's cakes were as delicious as they were gorgeous. She custom designed cakes for our triple purpose party - a 16th birthday, a 40th birthday, and the Sporting home opener. Both cakes were wonderful, but the carrot cake was especially most and tasty. My only mistake was not ordering twice as many peanut butter chocolate cupcakes.

Absolutely wonderful! We had lemon and pistachio cake that were absolutely to die for. The cake was exactly what I asked for and GORGEOUS!

Ashley is very nice. Cakes are delicious. Loved the almond frosting. Wedding cakes are gorgeous.

Ashley was able to help me out on short notice with cupcakes and a cake for a birthday. Every flavor was delicious and all guests commented on how good it was and wanted to know where they came from. Highly recommend

I'm at a loss for words for how truly spectacular our wedding cake and cupcakes turned out!! Ashley was not only an affordable option, but also brought organization, insight, creativity, and tastiness to our event! We started with a taste test to see if we liked her various flavors, and then had the extremely difficult (but best problem to have) of figuring out which ones we were going to go with- they were all SO GOOD!!! She decorated our cake exactly like the inspiration photos, with some added flair of real flowers from our florist to match the décor. She has options to provide stands as well, and delivered everything on time. I can't tell you how many guests we had that told us the cake and cupcakes were the best they'd ever had at a wedding! Extremely happy we chose Ashley and if you choose her you won't be disappointed!!

After multiple tastings, we chose Sugar Beats. The cake was good, Ashley was great - she listened, came up with great design ideas - we left our tasting feeling we'd found our match. Everything went well up to the day of the wedding. The cake was delivered and set up by Ashley. Our planner returned to our venue and found the cake leaning, and furthermore - dowel rods were placed under the unfinished cardboard base, sticking out for all to see and the cardboard bending around it. Our reception was held at a high-end venue, and this "look" was obviously not fitting for its location. The cake table was not confirmed by Ashley prior to set and needed to be moved. It took 6 people to move this table to ensure that the cake wouldn't fall due to its instability. The cake was not level on at least 3 tiers, the cakes weren't centered on top of each other when stacked, so it was glaringly apparent why the cake was leaning. The gold accents on the cake were to be metallic, not a yellow/brown paint job. The edges of the cake weren't sharp and crisp. I will give credit where due, the beading to mimic the beading of the wedding dress looked great. Everything else looked rushed. A call was placed by the planner to ask about the dowel rods and how we could make the appearance look better. Ashley immediately stated that the acrylic stand was the issue causing the cake to be crooked. Simply not true, the layers not being level, the cakes not being stacked evenly - basic fundamentals - was why the cake didn't stand straight. While on speaker, with multiple witnesses, the MOB expressed her disappointment in the finished product. From a distance, if you disregarded the dowel rods, it was crooked, but didn't look horrible. If you looked more closely, much of it was sloppy. We shared that we were surprised that Ashley would have been proud of the overall display of the cake she left. Ashley was upset that we were unhappy, and asked what she could do at that point. Obviously at that point there was nothing to be done. She offered - not asked by us - to make a refund, and we agreed to that, and appreciated her offer to do so. We were disappointed, but we didn't let the evening be derailed by that. We found some leftover florals to cover the base and dowel rods and made it look better. Ashley did post pictures of our cake on her Instagram page (minus the dowel rods - we have those) and went as far as to add some extra verbiage - not noted in other posts - regarding the time and effort, time spent away from family/interests, to provide a product - we can assume this passive aggressive message was directed at us. After the event, Ashley spoke with our planner. Her concern - would we be retaliative and what she should be expecting. Our planner assured her that we would not go that route because we felt Ashley handled things appropriately - or at least we took Ashley for her word. Ashley told our planner, multiple times, that she would be reaching out to us - almost a month, we've heard nothing. Ashley asked the planner for our address to mail us a check, almost a month, we've heard nothing. It's very disappointing that this is how she's chosen to handle the situation. Initially, we were impressed, we weren't going to provide a less than stellar review, but we do feel it's necessary that others understand her business approach. We have had wedding guests inquire for their upcoming wedding, and we've suggested other options. After a final call by us - we had to leave a message - to follow up on what had been communicated to our wedding planner, Ashley provided a laughable refund (one that SHE had promised and indicated would be indicative to dowel rods sticking out from under the crooked cake)...read her reviews on The Knot - anyone that hasn't been happy, her responses are always putting blame on everyone/thing else but her poor planning or sloppy work. Just because you tell a planner one thing to make yourself look good doesn't mean they aren't smart enough to know what's really happened and to share our story with other industry contacts - our story is being shared...and that you had the opportunity to do the right thing, and you chose not to.

We used Ashley for our wedding last September and I still dream of our wedding cake! It was probably hands down the best cake I've ever had. Ashley made my vision happen and took in all the details I said I wanted in our cake. She was always easy to get ahold of and was on time the day of our wedding and set up our cupcakes and cake for us. I will always refer to friends and family!

Ashley with Sugar Beats Bake Shop is fantastic! She recently did an incredible job on several semi-naked cakes for my daughter's baby shower, along with cupcakes. She was fantastic to work with. I told her our vision and she executed it perfectly and exceeded our expectations in how they looked and tasted. Everyone raved about the flavors of each kind of cake and cupcake. She had good communication with me throughout and was super helpful in setting up the cakes for me while I was busy with other things. I highly recommend her as she is very creative and seems to be passionate about what she does. The cakes made the baby shower decor complete. Again, the flavors were incredible, best we've ever had.
