Sotelo

They don't have pupusas anymore but they have empanadas. You have a choice of filling between chicken, cheese, or beef. I chose to get 2 chicken and 1 cheese on my empanada plate, and that ended up being the perfect choice. They were fried fresh and served hot. The dough was crisp and tasty. The chicken has a red sauce and it's so yummy. I ate a tiny bite of the cheese empanada with a good sized bite of the chicken empanada. It was fabulous! My husband and I were commenting how we've never had a bad meal there and we've loved just about everything we've ever ordered. It's just good Mexican food!

Hole in the wall type establishment. Food was good. Reasonably priced and the service was friendly. Would go again.

I wish we had the time and money to get to Sotelo more often! Great food, awesome people, prices, and service. I'm excited to get back asap!

Don't pass this place up based on the exterior. The salsa was nice and balanced. The tacos are simple yet delicious. There is plenty to choose from on the menu and the prices are modest. I plan on trying the empanadas next.

Don't waste your time. Lunch taco and enchilada with rice is what I had. That was no enchilada it was ground beef rolled in tortilla greasy and no flavor. the same for the taco and the rice tasted like what you buy in a package but with no flavor. Service nice but I don't think our waitress spoke English. Just not impressed. Sorry

Papusas were good. Chips were a bit stale. The picante sauce to dip them in was bland. They either don't have air conditioning, or don't want to use it, but it was horribly uncomfortable in there! I asked for half iced tea and half lemonade, and she brought me one of each. I'd definitely try a different Mexican restaurant if I get back this way.

Stopped here on our way to KC. Nice local place off the beaten path. Colorful interior, great margarita and delicious food. The chips and salsa were great, too!

I ordered from DoorDash and food was here quickly and piping hot. I ordered the chicken sope...It was amazing! I also ordered the green Pozole soup and I must say, it's as good as my homemade Pozole (and I've worked years to perfect mine!)I will order from here EVERY time I'm in in St Joes. I just had leftover Pozole for breakfast and it was even better this morning

The restaurant is somewhat quaint, but the food is very bland and flavorless. The salsa taste like tomato sauce in a bowl. The salsa comes out ice cold, too! The food is subpar and is in no way good Mexican food. I would not recommend this place to others. We are from Texas looking for good Mexican food in St Joseph.

Great margaritas, ceviche, tacos, and the fish! Rosa is a fantastic chef!Always great service. It's a lovely place to go and enjoy the best Mexican food in town. Small, intimate place. Where are you can enjoy the food and conversations.
