My dress [by Madi Lane] came in 2 1/2 months earlier than Something White told me to expect. And that was great - until it wasn't. After their notification email, I scheduled my appointment to pick up my dress (for which I had already paid the entire balance) within the 30-day window specified by their contract. That was difficult enough for me because of the demands placed on my schedule by my mom's cancer treatment. But I know it was in the contract, and I was able to book one of the *three* appointments per week that are available outside of traditional M-F 9-5 businesses hours. I promise, I am a rule follower and a people-pleaser (I also tipped my bridal consultant $300 because their card machine prompted me to do so - I don't want conflict)! Then another family member passed away after a stroke, and the funeral was scheduled for the day of my appointment (though it was quite far in advance by normal funeral standards). I informed SWBB two weeks in advance and rescheduled my appointment for the next Saturday appointment available, which was 9 days outside of the 30-day window. Again, I assure you that I understand the text of the policy. However, the primary reason that I bought my dress from SWBB, rather than another area store that carried the same dress, was because I liked that it was locally-owned and I thought it would be an authentic, relationship-based sale. When I picked up my dress, I explained my situation to the manager, because I was hoping we might be able to compromise and maybe they would be willing to charge me $150 or something, not the entire $300. I also felt compelled to do this because twice, the shop had contacted me and requested if I could come in earlier in the day to accommodate their schedule better (I agreed the first time, because I could.) It just kind of rubbed me the wrong way that they were so willing to ask me to reschedule but so intolerant of my genuine need to reschedule. After I explained my situation (calmly and rather quietly, because I was so nervous), the manager (who happened to have been the consultant whom I had tipped $300) responded "We have to enforce these policies the same for everyone so we aren't put in the situation where we have to decide whose excuse matters." She then cancelled the additional $200 veil order I had just made because "we cannot trust that you won't misunderstand our policies and get your own feelings hurt again".I had been really nervous to say anything but my fiancé had coached me about how to bring it up and to remain calm and respectful. If it were just me, I probably would have sucked it up because I didn't want to make a fuss and also ruin the feelings of what was a really exciting day! However, now I am sharing this to hopefully prevent others from finding themselves in this position.RESPONSE TO OWNER'S RESPONSE: You're right to clear up that lack of clarity about the time frame - I said what I did because when I ordered my dress, I was told 7 months, and then it only took 4 1/2. But you're right about the 15 days early thing, since that's what the official email said. Yet you went ahead and charged me $300 for having to reschedule for 9 extra days out, even though I did so two weeks in advance. Because of a funeral, and because of my mom's cancer.I agree that your response is "the facts" - we don't really disagree on anything that happened (including the rude language used by your manager), we just interpret it differently. It's kind of weird that you're trying to use the fact that I originally liked my experience as a "gotcha" or something. It just made me feel even more betrayed when I saw your true colors. Sure, you did everything *technically* right, but you simply lack any sort of heart, which I believe should be considered when selecting wedding vendors. On a purely human level, I just think future brides would be better off elsewhere.P.S. I would prefer you did not "think of" my mom. I can't even tell her what happened because it would upset her so much that a place where we shared a special memory turned out to be soulless.

I loved my time at Something White! The girls who work there are so patient and only care about you finding your perfect dress. I usually don't love trying on clothes, but they made it fun and are completely on your team if you like or don't like something. They've been super communicative since I found the dress as well! I can't wait to see it when it comes in! :)

Had to move due to my husband getting a promotion.Everything happened so fast and we had to cancel our wedding as we moved almost to the other side of the country . ( it was our vow renewal ) I canceled the other dress shop we had scheduled but forgot about this one.I get a text reminder that I need to call and cancel if o can't still make it . So I call immediately and I'm told I still will be charged. Why send me a reminder after the window of when I'm allowed to cancel without being charged? Seems like a greedy system.

I'm so glad I decided to check this place out! My family and I decided to do an impromptu wedding dress search over the weekend, so I decided to book a reservation the night before. Someone called to let me the next morning to let me know they had a cancellation at 11am, so we took it. This was my first time trying on wedding dresses, so I didn't have any expectations, but also didn't know what to expect. Paige, the owner, helped me and was so sweet! She was patient, kind, and knew how to guide me perfectly in finding my wedding dress! She was very professional and gave good advice throughout and never felt pushy. Although it is a smaller boutique, they had tons of styles, prices and options. My dress literally has everything I asked for, and more. I'm so pleased with this shop, and will recommend it to all future brides!

I loved my experience at SWBB! Anna was the best and helped me find the dress of my dreams. Seriously - it was the first one I tried on and sobbed when I put it on!We had two underwhelming experiences at other bridal stores the day before and were feeling totally defeated. Anna was so kind and truly listened to what I was looking for. The boutique was welcoming and as our appointment was on a Sunday, we had the whole store to ourselves. I felt completely comfortable and would recommend this store to anyone!!! Thanks for everything Anna and SWBB!

I will be honest, I was not SUPER stocked about going wedding dress shopping... I think I was trying not to have such high expectations to avoid being disappointed if I didn't find "the one". My experience ended up being a lot less stressful than I was anticipating though, and was actually SUPER laid back. I enjoyed the whole thing WAY more than I thought I would have, and the best part was I ended up finding my dress! :)During my appointment I was lucky to have had Carly as my designer. Having an open mind, I listened to her suggestions while she made sure to consider mine. I really appreciate how trying on multiple styles was encouraged, I ended up really liking styles I would not have! Also, Care made sure she really had an idea of what the overall vibe of my wedding was which ended up being really helpful when it came to narrowing down my favorites!

Working with Sarah at SWBB was great! She was knowledgeable, friendly, and made me feel very comfortable. They had many accessories to make it feel real. They also worked with me on any changes I wanted to make and did not pressure me one bit. I found my dress and celebrated with champagne! 10/10 experience!

Something White, THANK YOU! You turned one of the most stressful parts of planning my wedding into an unforgettable, amazing experience. Before walking into your boutique, I was convinced the dress I envisioned didn't exist, no stylist would understand my needs, and that a bridal shop in Kansas City couldn't provide the kind of experience I was hoping for. I couldn't have been more wrong! Coming back today to pick up my gown, I felt so special, and I truly can't thank you enough. Carly was my stylist during my first appointment, and she was absolutely fantastic. She understood my frustrations from visiting other shops (this was my 4th stop) and could tell I was overwhelmed. Carly respected that I had a clear idea of what I was looking for, and she made sure to involve my guests in the process, which I really appreciated. Carly did everything in her power to create a positive, upbeat atmosphere even though I wasn't quite feeling it at the beginning of the appt. Thank you for being so gracious, Carly! Kelsey assisted me at my pick-up appointment. She allowed me to soak up every minute of it. When we were trying different hair pieces, she fixed my hair so that I could imagine my wedding day look. Because time flew by so fast, she offered an accessory appointment to come back and texted me later to schedule. She even had a great idea to come in after my trial hair & makeup appointments. Thanks for being so helpful, Kelsey! Here are a few things that truly set Something White apart from other bridal stores I visited: 1. Something White's entire inventory is available to browse online. You won't have to wonder if the dress you saw online will be available in the store because it definitely will be. 2. They write your name on a welcome board and the mirror of your dressing room, which creates such an intimate, welcoming atmosphere. The boutique has great natural lighting too, which adds to the experience. 3. Carly gave me the option to either have her choose dresses or browse the racks myself. I loved that the dresses were out on the floor, so I could point out options, while still benefiting from Carly's expert advice. 4. I never felt rushed to move on to the next dress. They have customizable options, like sleeves and mesh bodice panels, which allowed me to truly personalize my dress. Thanks to Carly's attentive listening, I ended up customizing a dress I absolutely adore. 5. I could invite six people (not including myself), which was so important for me to have my mom, stepmom, and mother-in-law with me. They even allowed me to bring my younger sisters to my pick-up appointment, even though they don't typically allow kids. This meant the world to me! 6. Once I found my dress, they gave me time to celebrate, sip champagne, and take photos to remember the moment. 7. Something White genuinely cares about making your bridal experience everything you've dreamed of, and it shows in every detail. A heads-up for future brides, there's a prompt to tip your stylist when you make your down payment and final payment. While I wasn't expecting it, both Carly and Kelsey absolutely deserved a tip for their outstanding service. If you're on a budget, I recommend bringing cash for a custom tip. Thank you again, Something White, for making my dress shopping experience unforgettable!

Dreamy experience!! The service was elite, even with me accidently being 30 minutes late. Bailey wanted to make sure I wasn't stressed and we got on with the appointment as usual! My dress is absolutely stunning and 100% worth the price. Finding my dress has made me even more excited for my wedding day.
