Soil Service Garden Center

Part of easing into middle age is coming to love plant and garden stores. This one gets rave reviews from our neighbors, and we liked it well enough. To be frank, we need some more fall visits under our belt to get the full lay of the land.The service was friendly and helpful, and there is an indoor shop with garden accessories, a greenhouse and an outdoor plant section. There's actually an additional Soil Service across the street that is primarily a nursery.Our first visit was good, but the selection wasn't as robust as some others like Suburban Lawn & Garden and Family Tree Nursery. Specifically I was looking for some kind of natural mosquito treatment that wasn't borderline radioactive, but the only ones that were available were full of eco-destroying chemicals.We did come away with a few things, and saw on a flyer that they also do Christmas trees around the holidays, have a service that hangs lights, and handle tree disposal as well. Glad to find them, and we'll see what the fall harvest has to offer as we finally get around to dressing up the garden/landscaping a bit more in our new house.

They offer a variety of items for your garden needs. They can even help over the phone and you can pick up your items without having to even step foot inside the store.

Stopped by to find some new plants and succulents. They had pearl succulents that I was very excited about and even offered me free ones that were fairing as well as others. They had a wide variety of indoor and outdoor plants. I will definitely be returning for some more plants soon.

Called @ 4:32p to make sure they had FoxFarm Ocean Forest in stock. Yep, they do and she let me know they close at 5pm. Why am I here at 4:50p after driving from Lee's Summit for your front door to be locked and your sign still on? No joke, the parking has 4 cars here. If you want to lock up early, do that, but change your hours. What a waste of my time. See ya never.

I worked with Soil Service after calling several nurseries in the area. I was trying to purchase a housewarming gift for a friend. I don't live in the area. Caleb worked with me. He was awesome. He gave suggestions and sent pictures prior to my purchase so that I could feel comfortable buying without being there. He delivered my gift and made an extra trip to ensure that they were home. He definitely went above and beyond to make my experience pleasant and to provide my friend with a special gift.

They always have the herbs and plants I want! I love this place. The people that work here are extremely helpful, always there asking if you need help. I like how it's laid out! The quality of these plants are amazing. Love this place. Definitely a badass.

I have been here twice to purchase houseplants. Ask for Caleb - he is a knowledgeable and affable fellow who will help you select the best plants for your needs. I don't always have the best of luck with houseplants, but thanks to Caleb's suggestions, my plants are thriving. Highly recommended!

This is solely for the Bush and Tree side of Soil Service as I always have good experiences on the flower and plant side. I've been going to Soil Service for close to 20 years. I love the plant side and have no complaints. However, the bush and tree side is another story. I want to love it because it's the closest nursery to my home but i am not sure why but the staff on that side is unfriendly and rude. This isn't a one time experience. After an experience last year I decided I was done and would no longer buy from there. Fast forward one year and I went with a friend yesterday who wanted to look at shrubs. Again, rude staff that wouldn't say hello nor look up to acknowledge us. I'll buy my bushes elsewhere. Not sure what their issue is but I'm a pretty friendly person.

Amazing, over the top service. Purchased a tree as a first time buyer. After planting there was an unseasonal amount of rain, the trees leaves developed a fungal issue. The workers at Soil service let me bring in leaves and branches helped me determine the issue and find the perfect fungicide for a foliar application. They gave me detailed information and instructions and where so unbelievably helpful. The tree is now looking beautiful and I could not be happier!

I bought a marble queen from them two weeks ago and it has severe root rot. I noticed a few yellow leaves but figured it was a Pothos being dramatic about receiving too much water. As time went on it dropped more and more leaves. I went to replace the soil and all the roots are black and mushy. I'm trying to propagate what I can and hope some of it will survive. Extremely disappointed, $35 down the drain !!
