This is a nice small hometown hardware store. The employees are always ready to help you right when you enter the door. They are happy to talk you through projects and they truly take interest in what you are doing. Add expected these small places can't compete with the big box stores on price. Yes, you pay more, but time is money and at this place you can be in and out quick. When I go to the big box I wander for an hour hunting my items.

Don Sladek has owned a hardware store in Independence for decades. Sladek DO It Best is the result of being a competent businessman and working hard to serve customers for decades. The staff is knowledgeable, and if you have a problem, they will help you find a solution. They're not going to have everything that the big box home improvement places have, and they may cost a few cents more, but you get what you pay for. Here, you're paying for good old-fashioned customer service and competent help. They will help you match that missing screw or bolt, fill your BBQ propane tank, sharpen your lawnmower blade, sell you paint, hardware, plumbing stuff, and smile the whole time.Great people, great store.

Very nice workers when I entered but also very pushy to make a sale. I guess one has to be nice and helpful and pushy because the prices are outrageous. $15.99 for a hammer that I could buy at harbor freight for half the price.

Their service is the best but their prices are too high! I live by the store and I stop in occasionally to pick up things for projects around the house. More recently, I bought some lawn and garden tools. The staff is unbeatable. They ask questions to help you find what you're looking for and want to make sure you leave the store with everything you need. The only downside is that the mark up is so high. To put it into perspective- a gallon of wd40 is $20 on Amazon- $30 in store Tape- $2 at lowes- $8 at sladekStanley thermos- $24 Amazon- $37 sladekIt's a shame bc I love how friendly and helpful the staff is but unfortunately I often find myself driving 20 minutes further to go to lowes or Home Depot where the prices are more competitive. For things like tools are hardware- I think the trade off is worth it. But for other smaller items, I think it's better to save money. In summary- it's a nice clean, locally owned store where the staff is very friendly and helpful. The compromise is that the prices are much higher than larger stores.

Dropped off my chainsaw asking them to let me know what it needed prior to repair. High school kid wrote on ticket to give tune up. I corrected him and again told him I only wanted called about what it needed. Told I would be contacted. No such luck. I called 3 weeks later. I spoke with a man who read the ticket saying tune up. I told him the exact same thing. Told me he would call in a couple days. No call. 1 1/2 week later, I got a voicemail saying my saw was done. When I called asking why, I was told they could take the parts off that they put on back off again. I will never darken their door again and recommend that you don't either. If you do, prepare to be ignored and not be informed. I was told they don't tell people things ahead of time as it causes too many phone calls. BEWARE!!!
