Husband and I took a leap and decided to learn scuba. From confined water to advanced open water we were trained by the best. The instructors are first class, explaining everything in detail and taking their time to do so. Ready and willing to re-explain things for better understanding. Safety is key. We are truly grateful for everything and everyone at Sam's Skin and Scuba for their knowledge, experience, expertise, a some great laughs along the way. We feel that we have mafr lifelong friends with everyone we met. We are now in Cozumel with the man himself, Sam. His patience with us as we continue to learn and grow in scuba is priceless, we have learned so much from him and we are truly forever grateful, he has put together the best of the best and we couldn't be happier with our experience definitely recommend, the instructors have a way of making you feel comfortable and take away the stress of learning something new. I bought my boyfriend a Discover Scuba class to see if he would like it and commit to an Open Water certification course- he loved it! Jackie the instructor was terrific: Calm, knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. My boyfriend felt at ease and got a good sense of diving. We plan to enroll him for the Open Water certification course next year so we can time it before our first dive trip together!

Nice dive shop located in Independence missouri. It's a full line dive shop from beginners to professional. They offer a full line of dive equipment, training,and travel. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a pool on site for the classroom training. I have been on several trips with this dive shop and never been disappointed. If there is any specialty training you need this is a place you can get it. If your wanting to try getting your feet wet or just need a refresher course I would recommend giving Skin-n-scuba a try.

The current owner, Sam Rutherford, bought the shop a few years ago and has really turned things around. The store staff and instructors are extremely knowledgeable, helpful and honest. I've been a diver for a long time but wanted to get my son certified. Skin n' scuba was my first choice for the job. I did a dive trip through them last year and was impressed with their communications and attention to detail. For a week long trip to go smoothly with a large group of people (I think there were about 60 of us) indicates an enormous amount of work behind the scenes. My son & I are going on a trip with them again this year and I am confident it will be just as great as last year. Knowledgeable, friendly, fair, safe & fun - Who could ask for more?

This is the best scuba shop in the metro. Huge selection of quality dive gear and honest people. I guess the previous management sucked but I've only been there recently and was thoroughly impressed. They are servicing my gear...so I guess I should say good things about them so they don't screw me (j/k)...and they actually called to ask my permission to do something rather than just press on and charge me for it later. I had a small hole in the bladder of my BC and they called me to let me know and see what I wanted to do. That's awesome customer service I think. The only bad thing about this place is its location. It's hard to find in Independence. I'll be back for sure...and hopefully will go diving with them down at the lake one of these weekends.

I joined Sam and his team on a trip to Roatan, Honduras back in 2013 and haven't stopped diving with them since. Simply put, they are a first class dive shop focused on safety and continuing education. They have as much experience training and diving with brand-new drivers as advanced levels. The entire staff does a great job of supporting and encouraging divers in an environment appropriate for learning, and everyone has a lot of fun together! They travel frequently throughout the year to the best dive locations in the world, and they always assemble great groups of people. My highest recommendation.

The owner Sam and the entire staff are very knowledgeable, professional, and love to help people. They are true professionals. I took my open water here 25 years ago, my daughter took her open water here 15 years ago, and my 16 year old son is taking his open water here this weekend. Wouldn't go anywhere else for dive training or purchasing equipment.

Just completed my open water certification training. Outstanding experience, exceptional, flexible and friendly staff. Jerry and Zach were great instructors and extremely patient and gracious with students at all comfort levels. He was very accommodating of my schedule, making it work! I would highly recommend!

Fabulous shop and staff!! I have been a life long diver(military instructor) and dove all over the world and these guys are really the best I have ever seen. Well trained , traveled and very knowledgeable. Inventory was huge and high quality stuff . they have a huge pool and let me do some diving for my new gear. A+++ fellas!

I recently decided to go through the process of getting certified to scuba dive as its been a dream for a long time. I checked out a bunch of places and initially had settled on one closer to where I live. I called and was able to speak to someone about it all and it seemed like a great deal. When it came time to place down some cash for it I was unable to get ahold of them again, I went to their location and it was closed, even though it was supposed to be open. I was a little miffed as to why they weren't wanting to take my money so I checked in my gps for other scuba places close to where I was. Skin n Scuba wasn't far away so I drove out to their location.Upon entering the premises I was suitably impressed, plenty of options, large building and friendly staff. I talked to him for a while and signed up for the open water certification instead of just doing the intro based on how I felt with the location, people and equipment. The man I dealt with also gave me a quick tour of the place and showed me the pool they have on site, normal size pool but at 84 degrees and has a nice drop off point to 10 feet deep.2 weeks later I returned to get the required gear, fins boots, mask and snorkel. Once I had got home I did a little research and found that while I could have gotten my stuff marginally cheaper from amazon (I would have saved $30), i was pleasantly surprised to see the prices are very close to the prices online for the same gear. Also of note that if you are taking the open water certification, you will get about $90 off the rental gear for the certification dives, making the whole deal much, much sweeter.The staff were very friendly, the guy I signed up with recognized me and greeted me which is a pleasant surprise and one of the other staff was very open and friendly in telling me what we could do with my 8 year old as she is too young to actually scuba dive just yet. Very positive experience and I am very looking forward to my classes next week!! I would recommend to anyone and everyone!
