Shining Stars Catering

Shining Stars did our wedding this past weekend, and the food was a hit! We did interactive stations with a salad, meat carving station with sliders, and mac and cheese bar. I still have people coming to me to say how awesome the food was! They also had their pastry chef do a donut hole cake tower for us, and offered to cover for a reveal for when we did our little 6 inch cake cutting on the top. I left some air plants and floral pieces, candles, eucalyptus out for them and they stepped right now and made the table look amazing. Thank you for the quick reply emails, meetings and AMAZING food!!

Unfortunate experience. Though we had read reviews which suggested unreliability, the owner presented the company as a top notch organization. We had a high tea scheduled for 2pm with food on a three tiered stand on each table. We expressly asked for the staff to be early so we would be "ready to go" at 2pm. Though the set up staff arrived on time, they were not apprised of the event details. The owner showed up with the plates and the food for the event shortly before 2pm. We held our guests in the lobby--waiting for the caterer to complete the plating of food for the tables. This activity was complete at 2:30. The food was good--but late. The worst part was the attitude of the owner--no apology or acknowledgement of any responsibility. She left without ever speaking to the event organizer. Long on promises and short on execution--I would not recommend them to anyone.

I hired Shining Stars Catering to cater a tea party-themed bridal shower. From my very first contact with Deb (the owner) through the cleanup and end of the shower, my experience was wonderful.Deb was energetic and excited to hear about the shower and what I had in mind for food. She offered a TON of choices (I wanted bite-sized finger food)...cold, hot & desserts. It all sounded so good, we had a hard time making choices. She was great with communication and the contract for services was really clear and laid out all of the pricing in detail so I never had a question as to how much I'd be paying.She also had everything I needed like tablecloths, glasses, silverware, napkins. I had a wonderful and extremely helpful on-site server, Julie, during the shower as well. The food was a tasty and delicious as it sounded. We had tea sandwiches, scones w/berry butter, brie & cranberry tarts, mini cupcakes, mini beef wellingtons (YUMM!), salmon canapes, gruyere puffs, and chocolate covered strawberries. I'm so glad I had Deb and her team to help me put this shower together. I will definitely be giving her a call for my next event!

Catered my brother's wedding and I must say they were totally prepared, everyone loved the bbq/Mexican spread, and they made some of the best vegan enchiladas I've ever had special for me. Great service, great food, great company. I don't leave Yelp reviews often, but Shining Stars went out of their way to make my brother's wedding a hit and out of their way to accommodate my dietary preferences!

Deb at Shining Stars was one of the recommended caterers for our venue and she was a joy to work with for this out-of-town bride! Planning a wedding in KC from Omaha required a lot of emails and a few phone calls before our two in-person meetings but she handled all of our questions promptly and thoroughly. She and her experienced team made making decisions easy to help our Old Hollywood vision come to life. They've been around awhile and their attention to detail and recommendations proves they're the best. Everything ran like a dream and it felt like a true glamorous black-tie dinner party on the day of our wedding! They even saved us appetizers from the cocktail hour to eat in hiding before our Grand Entrance! Deb personally came up to our sweetheart table to check on us and we had several other servers stop by to make sure we didn't need anything! The groom was super happy we had two full plates of meals to take back to the hotel to eat around midnight because we were starving the next day! Being two foodies, we wanted the food to stand out for guests and they talked about how good it was for weeks after we got back from our honeymoon! We can't thank Deb and her team enough for taking all our stress away and letting us just relax and enjoy those delicious cheddar biscuits!

As a mom you hope to make your daughter's wedding dreams a reality, and that's what Shining Star Catering did for my daughter. Shining Star Catering knows what they are doing. I rate them as No. 1 in my book. They were my go to for everything and it was the smart and perfect chose. I live in Miami, FL., I had to plan my daughter's wedding from Miami in Kansas City. With the help of Marvin and Deborah Williams from Shining Star Catering, they made it all possible for me to do. The food was so flavorful, everyone was commenting on how great the food was (we had Italian). The staff was just as amazing and accommodating. The venue was a dream come true. Most of my communication was done via email, but Marvin and Deborah made the vision come true. He made himself available at all times, Marvin even stayed around the day of the wedding to guide me. That was a weight off my shoulders, because I did not have a wedding planner. That's what you call amazing service.

I cannot say enough great things about Deborah, Adrian, and their entire staff at Shining Stars! From the moment we went to their tasting event, we knew they were the best choice for us. My husband & I are self-titled foodies, so mass-produced chicken breasts just weren't going to cut it for our wedding reception. Shining Stars is above and beyond the typical catering-- they did tomato soup shooters and mini grilled cheese as a passed appetizer for us, incredibly tasty black & blue sliders, and their potato gallettes were being fought after! The list could go on and on. Their staff is knowledgable, extremely helpful in decision-making, and bends over backwards for their customers. We loved them so much we asked them to cater our rehearsal dinner the night before as well! You will adore working with Shining Stars for your special day, promise.

If you want the best --this is the caterer for you! I have been working with Deborah (owner) for 5 years and have never been disappointed. She provides only the best of everything--food, staff and service. She is energetic and its contagious. So many great menu choices and she is willing to try something new or use an family recipe.How can you go wrong when all the food is prepared by Deb and her staff "in house" and not purchased from SAMS or Costco.

We used Shining Stars Catering in September of 2011 for our wedding reception. We planned our wedding from out of town and Deborah was very easy to work with. She coordinated details directly with the venue and was always available for questions. The wedding reception went very smoothly and all the guests commented on how much they enjoyed the food. The presentation was also great. Their prices are very reasonable.
