Serrano Mexican Restaurant

If you are in Clinton, you have a small selection of Mexican places to choose from. Hubby and I were visiting family and decided to stop in to satisfy our Mexican craving. Here are my thoughts on today's visit:Location: 8/10 If you visit Clinton and the surrounding areas, you know it is a smaller town than other cities. Serrano's is located across from City Hall downtown. It is picturesque as a previous Yelper mentioned and it is a quaint area that is great for biking or walking. They do have outdoor seating.Customer Service: 8/10 We were greeted warmly by our server who kept our drinks and chips topped off throughout the visit. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The establishment was clean with bright decor and everything was well cared for. They also had great-sized margaritas.Food: 2/10 Despite the great customer service and location, the food was not good. Hubby and I both ordered the beef chimichanga meal. Out of all the Mexican places I have eaten, this was the sparsest serving of beans and rice I have seen! If you are super hungry, do not expect to have a portion size that will fill you up. The sprinkle of lettuce and tomato on the side was laughable. There was little to no flavor of the food and there was nothing exciting about the presentation. The chips were hot and crispy, but the salsa was too onion and cilantro forward, which overpowered the freshly cut tomatoes the sauce was made out of. Our meal was $30 total after tip, which is affordable for the two of us to eat out.Overall: 3/10: The locals love this place, but it is a pass for me. Mexican is one of my favorite meals and this visit was disappointing. Had the portion sizes and flavor been better, I am sure it would have been a much better experience.

Best chiles rellenos I've ever had. I've been trying to find similar rellenos in Kansas City and haven't found any as good as I have here! Amazing place to try if you are passing through! 10/10 food and service

A picturesque store front across from the Henry County courthouse; Serrano was a surprisingly good find when driving through Clinton on our way home.The chips were light and tasty and the sauce was rich in fresh onion and cilantro. A great start.My shrimp enchiladas were just as impressive. Lots of large shrimp that were diced and packed into 2 cheesy rolled and baked tortillas and bathed in a green sauce. The sauce was tangy and slightly sweet that I could have drank with a straw; rice, beans and a dollop of sour cream and guacamole filled the platter My buddy was equally impressed with the chips, sauce and his chimichanga.The server was in training but got the job done in a friendly manner after a few minor snafus. I would have no qualms about returning if I ever found myself in Clinton, MO at feeding time.

Amazing food! We were driving through on our way to Branson and we're looking for some thing off the beaten path. My wife found this restaurant and it had good recommendations so we decided to give it a shot. Everything we had was amazing! I would highly recommend the tamales as they were very meaty and very tasty. But really everything was good. We also had great service and the price of the food was very reasonable. Will definitely swing back by the next time we are in Clinton.

Best tacos in the area, I appreciate outdoor seating too. I was afraid we'd be forgotten outside, but we weren't, service was good.

Very good food. Service was great. The beer was cold. A very good place . Very good food and friendly place on the Clinton Square.

Food today at 1pm was good but server was terrible! I told him twice I wanted quac - once when I ordered my meal and again when he brought my plate, and I never got it (at least they didn't charge us for it). We had to ask for salsa twice and napkins twice. We had to ask for water THREE times and only one us got it. One of us said no sour cream and he brought his plate with it anyway. Dude lost out on an excellent tip (my husband is very generous to good servers) and I'm still craving quacomole. First visit; terrible impression. UPDATE: 4/5 of us wound up with food poisoning possibly from the salsa.

I eat at Serrano often! I even take myself out for lunch often! The chips are thin and fresh, the salsa is homemade everyday and is yummy! I love all the food I have eaten, but my favorite is the tamales!! They are homemade and the Masa surrounding the wonderful pork filling is not too thick, which means a great portion of pork! They have great specials, great margaritas, and great prices! The service is always quick and courteous. The ambiance is comfortable and not " in your face". This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Clinton!

Passing through town and being hungry...I decided to seek a local restaurant and avoid eating chain restaurant food. Serrano's caught my eye as I made a trip around the square. It was an odd time so there was only one other table of customers. Waitress was friendly and service was good. I opted for Taco Tuesday special and added a few items. The salsa was very good with just the right 'kick' of hot. Chips were good, too. Tacos were basic but the meat had a good seasoning. The added avocado was perfect. The bathroom was very clean! This is a must for me in choosing a restaurant. I will return next time I pass through. I took a star away because they served my drink in a styrofoam cup. I'd much rather drink from a glass.
