WHAT A GEM!!!We stumbled upon this darling shop when we were eating at a nearby restaurant.Having lived for many years in both the NJ/NY area and STL near The Hill, Scola's is the best of both worlds! So much nostalgia for younger years, and the ladies behind the counter were delightful. Scola's has both East Coast and Midwest versions of many Italian favorites AND gelato! Definitely a destination spot for us now that we live in the area.

I've heard amazing things about this shop and was excited when I noticed it was next door to Danny's Burger Shack next door. I decided to pop in and check things out. They were getting ready to close and a lot of items were already put away. The owner assured me that they could still get me whatever I wanted but I felt bad for coming in so late and didn't want to create additional work for them. So I grabbed a couple of slices to go. I tried the cannoli cheesecake first. It was really good. I think they must use ricotta in the cannoli filling because there was a little grit to it-similar to ricotta. I still want to try an actual cannoli from them since they fill them to order. So we'll revisit the cannoli's at a later date. I also grabbed a piece of the German chocolate cake. It was delicious. Very moist and the frosting was lovely. Again, I'll definitely return since I didn't get to fully check them out but my introduction so far was delicious.

I think Scola's has really amazing Cucidati (Italian fig cookies) and oatmeal raisin cookies. The cakes can be a little hit or miss, and the pricing can be difficult to gauge when you first go in because the cookies are priced by weight. However, I think it's worth a try for anyone in the area. The Cucidati always taste fresh with a good flavor profile, and if you like soft, moist cookies, you'll enjoy their oatmeal raisin ones. For two Cucidati, one oatmeal raisin cookie, and a slice of cake ($7.50), my total was around $15. It's not cheap, but it's a nice treat! Pro tip: it's cheaper if you pay in cash!

Three years and multiple return visits after my original review; Scola's is still a 5 star treasure. In fact it has improved. It's always a tough decision on what to purchase. The pineapple upside-down cake is absolutely my favorite, with it's brown sugar glaze. The bread pudding is top tier as are the assorted Italian wedding cookies. I've taken treats from here to work and received rave reviews from staff. They have added gelato by the scoop. Always great service too. With Danny's Burger Shack moving in next door, Scola's is the perfect dessert stop after having a perfect burger.

BEST ITALIAN COOKIES EVER! My Nonna came through Ellis Island, to settle in San Francisco back in 1909. She brought all things delicious with her, via recipes in her head. Oh how I miss her and her food. Thank you for taking me back to her kitchen, even if only for a moment.Update, I'm only in Kansas City until tomorrow. My husband and I finished the cookies we ordered on Uber Eats yesterday. I just ordered another and am contemplating ordering another to take with us!

They are patient and very helpful to assist in your choosing. Their selection is fantastic. Cakes are fresh, you can taste the quality of ingredients as well. Not the lard feeling you are left with in your mouth from other places that cut corners. You can tell they use butter. I brought a piece of cake home to share with my husband and when I rinsed the plates off in the sink it cleaned easily (indicating butter) as compared to a cake with lard in the frosting which would stay on the plate as a grease glob. Prices are fair. But be careful on the cookies. They are weighed out by the pound and that can quickly escalate. But that's on me. HIGHLY recommended.

**Scola's Original Italian Cookies and Pastries: A Slice of Italy in Kansas City**Tucked away in a cozy corner of Kansas City, Missouri, lies a little piece of Italy--Scola's Original Italian Cookies and Pastries. From the moment you step inside this family-owned and operated bakery, you're transported to a world where the art of Italian baking is alive and thriving. The ambiance is reminiscent of a traditional Italian kitchen, where every nook is filled with the promise of homemade delights. It's a place where family values are as ingrained as the flour in their famed fresh bread.A visit to Scola's is incomplete without indulging in their classic Italian cookies. The range is commendable, but the star of the show has to be their Biscotti Morbidi. These ricotta cookies are a revelation--soft, comforting, and embodying the perfect balance of sweetness that kisses your palate with each bite. For those who prefer their treats with a crunch, the biscotti is exemplary. Not to mention, the cannoli, with its crisp shell and sumptuous filling, is a tribute to the authentic taste of Italy.Speaking of authenticity, the tiramisu at Scola's is a masterpiece. Stumbled upon this little store front while visiting another local restaurant. When I walked in, I was amazed at the selection of goodies they had!!! Hand-piped cherry canola was amazing- real cherries churned into filling. The Bavarian cream bread pudding was deliciously rich but not overly so. The fig cookies were my favorite and my husband's favorite were the Neapolitan. We thought everything was reasonably priced and well stocked. One thing, their menu mentioned fresh bread and bagels, but the store clerk confirmed they do not offer those goods.
