Was so pumped to find these guys' outstanding sausage at my Hyvee in Topeka yesterday. The product is fresh and loaded with whole fennel seeds and herbs just how I like it.It took my rendition of Lidia's Orecchiette con Salsice e Broccole to another level. For my fellow chefs out there, I'll share the "secret ingredient", it's cinnamon. I add it to the sausage as it browns and then when it's added back into the broccoli simmering in stock the cinnamon releases some to make a wonderful sauce.

I ate lunch in-house there once a few years back. Found it to be very tasty. Was extremely surprised to find them set up and selling their Italian sausage hoagies at our local "Maple Leaf Festival" in Carthage, MO. Fresh grilled with onions and peppers. The Italian links are one of the best I've found anywhere. I bought a case of the sausages from them to throw in the freezer for use over the next few months. If I run out before next year I'll probably need to run up to KC to restock my supply.

This Italian Sausage product would be much better if they used ground fennel and blended the fat better in the links .Very tasty, but to much gristle. Great choice for grilling , cooking in Sugu ..not so much.Prefer Mendolia's recipe

It was the best sausage sandwich I've had in Kansas City. The sandwich had a generous portion of sausage and was complimented well with onions and peppers. The staff was super friendly as well and gave off a small family vibe when you walked in.

Scimeca's is one of the two best Italian sausages in town; the other being Mendolia's...I'm sure neither wants me to mention the other in my review, but it is true. The flavor is just wonderful. One thing I can say for Scimeca's is that my great uncle would drive from Topeka just to get their sausage. He was an old school Italian who lived in Brooklyn before moving to Topeka.Any pizza place in town would do themselves a favor by using Scimeca's Italian sausage!

This is by far the best Italian sausage I have ever eaten! I have not visited this location but for three years running we have seen Scimeca's as a food vendor at the KC Irish Fesitval. They grill them up all day with onions and peppers. OMG, the best sausage. Just a tad hot (spicy) but so good. You can see the spices in every bite. Now at $6 at the festival...a bit steep but we are going to be ordering a case to be shipped to us soon, which round out to about $1 a piece. I look forward to the Festival every Labor Day weekend and these foot longs too!

3.5 stars.Scimeca's has hearty sausages, that's true. But I still found the flavor to be less robust than I would've liked - the sausage was juicy, but the juice oddly lacked richness of flavor. Regardless, it's hard not to enjoy a bun topped with a thick brat and piled high with peppers and onions. I'm just not sure I would go out of my way for Scimeca's in the future.
