I truly think this is the best display of Christmas lights anywhere in the Kansas City Metro area. And this year there are even more lights than last year. Be sure to view it both from the entry on 87th St. and the entry further north going up the long driveway to get the view from the top. And step inside the beautiful little gazebo on the lower level... every inch of it is covered with lights this year! And if you have any magic paper Christmas lights (and fireworks) viewing glasses, you will love what you see even more! The snowmen glasses are the best!

Sensational outdoor recreation in the 'burbs. Whether it's the Sar-Ko-Par aquatic center's outdoor pool (awesome slides!), the lovely pond, or the roller hockey rink, there is something for everyone and anyone in these 50+ acres of Lenexa. The newest hook is the skate park, which doubles as a spot for some BMX action. Plenty of ramps and quarter-pipes, differing degrees of difficulty, and safe spaces make it attractive for many age ranges. The 'Rolling Magic' statue/sign announces just that: a fabulous spot to get your daredevil on (wear a helmet!).In Decembers, Sar-Ko lights up with beautifully adorned trees in alternating colors encircling the pond. It's a short circuit around the pond and the reflection from the mostly still pond makes for sensational photo ops. Check out the gazebo for special views and picture taking.Parking isn't overwhelming, but you can make it happen. There are tennis courts and a frisbee golf short course, as well as accessible walking trails and nature points. Outstanding park with just about everything to offer and very little to miss!

Great skate park that has recently been renovated by the city of Lenexa. If you board, scooter, skate or bmx bike this is the spot. Restrooms & drinking fountains are right next to the park and they've added additional parking nearby.Rolling Magic pays tribute to a skate park in JOCO in the 80's that was open for a few years. Great addition to the city!

I love Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park! This has been of my go-to parks for as along as I can remember and love that they continue to update it. The park itself is pretty simple but has quite a bit of history (which you can actually read about on a sign near one of the highest parts of the park. It is really cool to know how long this area has been active and what it started out as.The park is great for everyone in the family and that isn't even considering all of the events that are hosted in this park throughout the year (chili cook-off, Christmas lights, etc.). But there are numerous paths to walk/run on, updated playgrounds, shelters, the Legler Barn Historical Museum, a railroad caboose, picnic areas, soccer fields, volleyball court, a three-acre lake that you can use a stone path to cross half of, a gazebo, community garden, newly renovated skate park, tennis courts, basketball court, and more! There was a public pool but it is currently under construction. It is in such a great location and during the winter, you can walk next door to the Foundry Church's coffee shop. Overall, I have always enjoyed Sar-Ko-Par and feel like it continues to get improvements almost every year. I am glad money gets put into it and the family's legacy gets to continue each and every year.

I love music here, walking with friends here, doing the downward dog here (& I don't even love yoga), throwing a football here, enjoying community gardening here. It's a place of joy. GO see the Christmas lights; a lovely vibe park!

This place is Enormous. I've spent quite a few days hanging out here. Not only do they have like 4 playgrounds over 40 acres, but they have a skateboard park, tennis courts (I think), 2 of their playgrounds are awesome, lots of fields and courts, a full-sized lake with fish, walking paths, and a stone bridge across the lake. The coolest most memorable thing about Sar Ko is the lights though. During the holidays, they put up lights on every tree nearly, and what you can find here - if you find a parking spot - is a great place to walk amongst the christmas spirit. It's a great way to spend an evening after dinner, and a neat place to kickstart your holiday cheer. I'll definitely be there before years end. The fishing is good too, but I've found they have a real problem with algae blooms. Bummer, but whatever. It's fine just to be able to cast a few. Huge place. HUGE.

Sar Ko Par lights are absolutely stunning! If you are ok with being a bit chilly you will love taking a walk through the park and getting beautiful pictures with the lights as back drops. We went on a night that it wasn't freezing but still pretty cold so make sure you dress warm and bundle up. There is so much to see you have to walk the whole park. I'm so glad it was back this year as it wasn't up last year because of the lovely Covid. I know Christmas is over but you can still go and see them as they are still up! You won't be disappointed!

An absolutely wonderful park to walk. Great trails and a beautiful pond. But Christmas is extra spectacular here. Don't miss all the lights- one of the biggest displays you'll see anywhere! Plenty of parking to get out and enjoy up close, but many people also just drive through to enjoy them from afar.

My new favorite park! What a beauty in the middle of all the hub-bub. I love the walkway, the playgrounds, the trees, the gazebo. The thing I love the most though, is the history. What a nice legacy to leave behind for the many generations ahead. We have found an easy place to run and have fun. Or maybe pretend to be a leopard and lounge in the climbing trees. We've spent hours here already and plan to spend many more.
