Oh yeah.. I understand the hype now!I went for tacos: Pastor, asada, carnitas. All 3 were terrific but the carnitas/fried pork were a standout hit. Great salsa/toppings bar, everything is fresh.Love that it's tucked into a market with relaxing Latin American music playing. This place is unpretentious and delicious, and cost just $8.50 with tax for my taco trio.

We needed, yes needed, some takeout Mexican food on a Saturday evening. A negative rumor has been swirling about our usual taco place so I sent my husband to San Antonio this time. If you don't know, San Antonio is a Mexican grocery store that also sells made-to-order food. We hadn't been back for ages and I was hoping it was still as good as before. The asada tacos are single tortilla but the meat has better flavor and is less gristly than our usual. It also comes plain and you add your own onion and cilantro, which is for sure preferable when you have a picky eater in the house as I do. The quesadillas here are also really good. We ordered an asada (no pic, sorry), chicken (again, no pic), and chile relleno. All good. We bought the chips and salsa on the store side and they were delicious. Salsas were spicy but not melt-your-palate hot. This is a good spot when you need, yes need, some quick Mexican takeout and maybe a few things from the grocery store.

This place has it all: a bustling grocery store, freshly made tortillas, a meat market, and excellent food for takeout or counter service with ample indoor seating. I had pork tamales, a taco al pastor, and a chile relleno taco (the first time I've had that, although I've always loved chile relleno on its own). All was really good: the chile relleno taco was my favorite, the al pastor was missing pineapple (bummer), and the pork tamales were yummy but maybe just a bit on the dry side. The salsa bar had several spicy options and I washed everything down with horchata. Great spot with a busy lunchtime crowd and lots of free parking.

This place is such a hidden gem, I would highly recommend. The value is incredible, for both the quantity and quality of food they serve. They are located within a very small grocery-type store, so don't worry if it looks like you're in the wrong place. Once you walk in, walk past the cash registers to the back corner, where you can find the restaurant counter.I ordered the torta and it was definitely substantial. The bread was incredible soft and moist, and they gave plenty of meat. Service is quick and friendly, and there is a toppings bar where you can self serve a wide variety of sauces, raw onions, cilantro, and pico. Come check this place out!

Wow! Totally surprised when my coworker brought me to this place. So many choices of protein to choose from and all the toppings were self-serve which I like. Lengua, birria, asada, buche etc...Tortillas were amazing and the atmosphere is working-class to the max which is awesome! No gentrification here!

BEST authentic street tacos in the free world!! I have only had tacos, but I can only imagine all the other items are just as amazing as the street tacos!! SUPER nice employees combined with incredible food make San Antonio's the BEST Mexican restaurant!!! Their condiment bar is phenomenal, too. I don't speak Spanish, but I never have a problem with ordering. If you like mexican food, this IS THE PLACE TO GO!!!! Y.U.M.....

Taylor's Taco Tour Must Stop-Do luscious, juicy, tender, fatty meats entice you? Do you already know that some of the best tacos out of Kansas City come from hybrid Hispanic Food Markets and restaurants? Well if you answered "yes" to either of those questions then you are probably already a regular at San Antonio's (for short) and hopefully agree with my 5 start rating. The market itself is well organized and clean and the restaurant side is easily seen when you enter the glass doors, you walk up to the counter and order and then wait in agony until your tacos (or other Mexican specialties but we're here for the tacos today) are freshly prepared. I highly recommend ordering an horchata to sip on while you wait and also, a pro tip is to come at slightly off times on the weekdays to avoid long lines at the counter. Also, side note, their refried beans are excellent, creamy and soft and definitely made with lard. But, enough about that other stuff we're here for a taco tour of KC right? Well I have tried the carnitas, the asada, the pollo and the El pastor, and the barbacoa here at San Antonio and the interesting thing is I am usually a pork princess, always choosing a little pig on my plate is when the option presents itself but, I actually would rank the carintas as my least favorite, it just didn't have enough crunchy bits and was too fatty for me and the El pastor doesn't really standout either. So, if I'm subtracting one star for San Antonio's pork preferences I am adding one right back for the epic topping/condiment and salsa bar and the heavenly spicy avacado sauce waiting to be dolloped on each and every taco you order. Speaking on which ones to order, I would say go for barbacoa if you are a fan because their's is extra juicy and melt in your mouth, the richness is really cut nicely by the milf fruitiness of the avocado sauce or if you choose a spicier salsa by the heat and zing. My second and third choices are a tie because it really just depends what you're in the mood for, the asada (or steak) is never chewy and isn't too bold so I think picky eaters would enjoy this one a lot without sacrificing flavor but, the pollo (or chicken) is a lean solid choice if you are looking for a healthier street taco option.

AMAZING FOOD!! the best Mexican I've ever had in my life hands down. It was very busy in there so it was crowded around the toppings area and not much seating available...but SOOO worth it not even 2 minutes away from a couple parks you can take it to go and enjoy! i recommend this place to any and everyone who wants some good authentic Mexican!
