don't overlook this small nook, it is a hidden gem in the roof. if you appreciate quality sushi, this place has definitely proven to be that spot. we were stoked to finally make it out here. from the photos alone, the food looked well-prepared, and we are thrilled to report that our food tasted excellent. we started with their spicy kano salad, and the ingredients were very well-prepared and Fresh! same thing to be said about my tempura and chicken katsu roll as well as my husband's tuna rolls. from the protein to the rice proportion of each maki, it felt like every part of the process was done with thought and care. the portion is not massive, but the prices are also very not expensive. the lady who received our order and the lady who attended to the needs at our table were both easy-going and pleasant. it is a quiet and casual space, which we do appreciate. we loved watching the Japanese restaurant YouTube channel they had up on their monitor as well.. all to say: great experience for two people looking for a casual and quiet space to enjoy quality sushi. we plan to come back often

I picked up a Hollywood roll (a California with cream cheese added) and a Phoenix roll to go. I ordered online which went smoothly. It was my first visit and my order was ready within 5 minutes after I arrived. I only spoke with the woman at the register. She was friendly. I really liked the murals and decor. It's not a large place but a decent amount of seating. I would guess based on the concept that they handle many to go orders. While I was waiting, I saw someone ended come in to pick up. I did see one table seated as well. My sushi was packaged well. It had good flavor. The Phoenix was a little pricey around $12. It was very good but not a lot. The Hollywood was good as well. It was $5.50 I think. There were a couple of more on the specialty menu I'd like to try and Id also like to try the Hibachi at some point. I wish they had some sort of Bento Box that included the hibachi with some sushi. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the wasabi and ginger. This seems small but I really enjoy these so it factors in to my opinion. They add a small amount of each in your container to go. The wasabi was a bit mild to me when I added it to my soy sauce. I was surprised by how much I used and it was still not very hot. I'd like just a little more punch. And the ginger I got was a bit dried out and woody. It was a small amount and I wondered if I had gotten the last of a batch. I couldn't eat half of it because it was like tree bark. I did appreciate that it's not colored pink and natural. I imagine this is not the norm but I was slightly disappointed. I'll definitely try some other choices when I visit again.

Food - above average sushi (great value)Service - quick dining in delivery to table and I suspect prompt take out too.Ambiance - nice Hawaiian scene on North WallBeen meaning to go to this place and driven by a LOT.Used to be a bad Hawaiian meat and rice place before Hawaiian bros/Mo Bettah came to townGot 3 roll Lunch special for $12 (great value) 6 per roll, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, crab and cream cheese.Mushroom soup has a nice flavor, good thin slices and bits of mushroom, beef broth that is tasty.Free bottle of water w your order dining in, coke sprite etc in the refrigerator in front of the order area.Luckily due to my small stomach, 18 rolls = 3 meals = $4 / meal...NICE

This locally owned place is worth visiting, hidden in a small plaza. The sushi is fresh & very reasonably price. Quite the variety of other options too.

We discovered this little gem while running errands. It's a quaint little place with very friendly and helpful staff. They have a great lunch menu Mon-Sat. (Closed on Tuesdays) The lunch portions were just the right size. And they have plenty of rolls to choose from. They also have hibachi or teriyaki with a choice of soup or salad. We had the crab rangoon to start, which was very flavorful. My husband had the two roll lunch. He chose spicy tuna and the Hollywood roll. He said they were both good. I had the hibachi shrimp with miso soup. All of which was very tasty and flavorful. We will definitely be back when we are on that side of town.

Late Saturday pick up order. I got the crab rangoon, a Godzilla roll and the mountain roll! From the outside it's a very unassuming spot in the middle of a strip mall but when entering to pick up I was really impressed with the interior and the design/ aesthetic that they went with. It was a place that made me wish I actually sat down in the restaraunt to eat. While only picking up the woman who I assume based on our conversation is the owner handed me my food. She was incredibly nice and pleasant to talk with! From that interaction I knew I was going to have a good meal. The sushi was great my favorite of the two being the mountain roll but I would easily order both again. The crab rangoon and sour sauce were also awesome! Everything was fairly priced and well made and it was an excellent experience. I'm excited to go back and try more soon!

This is the DEFINITION of a hidden gem in OP! I am so grateful I found this place so close to my house! Do yourself a favor and get the vegetable hibachi - you can't beat $9.50 for fried rice, a huge deliciously grilled assortment of veg with yum yum sauce, and mushroom soup or ginger salad. The portion was large enough for me to have leftovers too, which is unheard of at this price point for dinner. I also loved the Crab Rangoon, which are more like large samosas instead of the pouches you usually get. They are phenomenal and come with an equally delicious dipping sauce. I didn't dine in, but I will be going here every time I need quick takeout. I can't wait to try all of the sushi rolls too!

I've been coming to Sam's Sushi pretty regularly for the past year or two. I was instantly impressed with the sushi, I think what stands out to me are the seaweed wraps or nori. They have so much flavor and a nice depth to them.Their rolls are not as large as other restaurants but I like them better that way as I don't feel like I have such a mouthful. I have tried their hibachi as well and really enjoyed the shrimp dish.Lastly I have to say how awesome their front end staff are. I regularly get to go orders and recently they forgot to pack some spring rolls in my order. In efforts to rectify the situation the staff called me, texted me, refunded the spring rolls and gave me a store credit. I was so impressed with their integrity to go to such lengths. I really respect them for how they handled the situation. You won't get that experience at this price point anywhere. Can't wait to get my next order of spicy tuna rolls!

I have been loving the lunch specials for a few months now. They always have it ready and packaged beautifully. Now I have eaten inside, and this restaurant is just terrific. Their plating is lovely. The nigiri sushi portion is generous, just like my favorite place in Los Angeles. I had a perfect nigiri hamachi (yellowtail) and a couple rolls with my Mom. Their Avocado salad is a must try for anyone who loves them. Their service is fast, the restaurant is charming with murals on the walls. They even have some specialty Japanese drinks in the drink fridge.Their lunch specials are the best deal in town, but even their regular prices are very reasonable for the quality. It's family owned too. Definitely give it a try if you are looking for some sushi.
