Never been here for the train. This is amazing! Although I could see myself getting into an expensive bill at the end of the meal, haha.

We LOVE the Shawnee location! We've been going here for years and the sushi never disappoints. They usually have a great variety on the train, but if there's a specific item I want I just asked and they'll make it. My favorite non sushi item is the tempura stuffed pepper. Introducing one of my favorite places to get sushi in the greater Kansas City area: Sakura Sushi Train! Sakura has a sushi train that loops around the bar and is holding mini plates with sushi and appetizers. Having a hard time picking which sushi roll sounds the best? At Sakura, you can pick and choose which plates you want to enjoy. I also snag some dumplings, a ginger salad, and crab rangoons to start my meal off with. I usually grab 4-6 mini plates with 2-3 sushi pieces on them. There are three colored plates with different prices depending on what is being served on the plate. This spot may not look like much from the front, but you will leave fully and happy! If you are looking for a unique dining experience in the greater Kansas City area, Sakura is the place to visit!

I ordered the oyakodon for lunch, my husband ordered the tempura. I would say initially, the oyakodon dish is not appealing to the eye. However the flavor is definitely there but the chicken was a touch dry. The tempura tasted a bit off to both of us (it may have been the sauce). Overall still felt it was a good value for lunch, but wouldn't be my first choice next time.

My sister picked this place for her birthday dinner. A group of us enjoyed the hibachi (dinner and a show). The food was cooked well and was a big portion. The servers were attentive. It is in an older building and nothing special about the hibachi show. However my sister loves this place and has been multiple times over the years. They also have sushi and lunch options. Stop by if your looking for Japanese style food in the Lenexa area. But it's not worth going out of your way to try out.

So fun to watch the train haul your sushi around the bar. Polite and friendly service. Sushi chef asked if there was something more we wanted and explained why a variety was not available.

Food - Well now this is where most of the stars come from. I have tried many of their dishes, and I can't say that anything really stands out. Nothing is BAD either though so right in the middle when it comes to food.Service - While extremely friendly when they are talking with you... I have often felt ignored in the place. I am not sure if this is cultural and if I should be doing something specific to let staff know I need either more drink, more food, or the check.Ambiance - Well... they have a Train... that is cool. The place hasn't been updated in MANY years which might explain the decent prices. But, that doesn't make it a place that I would take anyone for a date or to impress. And no not a business dinner either. There is nothing wrong with any of this... I want that clear... but there is also little to make me recommend or go back.Thanx for reading!

You need to go right when they open to ensure your sushi on the train is fresh. The hibachi is not really meant to be ordered to go, although it is still an option on their website.

Been coming here for 35 years. Food is good and fast. Servers are nice and the atmosphere is pleasant. Good place to take a date although I am afraid of women.

Horrible experience! Used to be a favorite spot but, sadly, this place has gone downhill! Our family was rushed through our entire meal by rude waitstaff! Wasn't even halfway through the main course before to go containers and the bill we didn't yet ask for was being thrown at us. We sat at 6:15p, closing time was 8:30. The restaurant was by no means a packed house yet we were rushed out by 7p. The server abrasively kept telling me to sign the bill while snatching things off the table. Twice, in fact, before even running my card and 3x afterward while I was still boxing food! My advice: take your money somewhere with better service.
