This venue is the most underrated venue in Kansas City. Absolutely beautiful with amazing history. You can feel the vibe the second you walk through the front doors. Also equipped with one of the oldest and largest operating elevators in Kansas City, so cool! Staff is so overly accommodating. Brand new A/C units as of 2024. Highly recommend.

The Rumely was AMAZING! The venue is absolutely gorgeous and you can't beat the staff they have. Jamie was so attentive and easy to work with. We got so many compliments on what a hidden gem The Rumely is! Our reception was on October 7th. For you brides wanting to use this venue but worried about the haunted houses...don't be. When we booked a I was a little concerned but they assured me no one would know they were going on and they are correct! There were no street actors out front that day. You could not hear any noise from the haunted houses either. The street was blocked off so parking was not an issue! I encourage anyone who is looking for an antique looking space to book this venue, it's beautiful!! We also used the lower level ballroom for our rehearsal dinner which was just as beautiful as the upper level, it worked out great! Thank you Jamie and the Rumely staff for everything!!!

Went to a wedding here recently. Pros: -Located in the west bottoms, an up and coming historic neighborhood with interesting architecture (mostly old factories).-There are plenty of photographable walls, alleys and buildings as photo backdrops nearby.-The venue itself has a shabby chic aesthetic and has character.Cons:-The house sound was terrible. The frequencies weren't tuned correctly or the wireless mics were low quality which allowed for ample interfere. Either way it made for some distracting moments during a sweet ceremony interrupted by hissing and crackling. At least there wasn't any feedback?-Grossly insufficient air conditioning downstairs. The entire crowd was sweating. The maid of honor looked like she might faint. There was concern expressed multiple times in advance about the ac and the parents of the groom were assured there would be no issue and nothing could be done. To make matters more inefficient an amateur event planning decision was Made to TURN OFF the air during the ceremony so we could hear the loud sound system that was malfunctioning. Frankly the white noise of ac would have made the intermittent crackling of the rookie a/v rig more bearable.-Inadequate ac upstairs. At first it felt better upstairs but by the time all guests had been seated many people were sweating through their clothes and were visibly sweating on their face. Recommendation to owners: You have a decent/cool venue, but need to sort out proper ventilation and cooling. It was 80 or so outside I can't imagine if it had been hotter. We would have had people fainting. Also, perhaps reconsider your max capacity if you aren't able to cool the room down or accommodate a sit down dinner with 250 people. It was so crowded it was difficult to move through the tables and this contributed to the uncomfortable temperature.I enjoyed the wedding but this was because of the family I saw and the beautiful ceremony but honestly this was despite anything the venue had to offer in terms of amenities. Aesthetically, it's an interesting space. With better venue services and event planning this place could be a 5.

Other then four walls, all they provide is excuses, inaccurate information, shoddy customer service and headaches. Venue was disgustingly dirty the day of our wedding, including the alter and a rug we had to remove. The event planner was described to me (groom) by our vendors as "rude" "unprofessional" "incompetent" and "worthless." The event coordinator was so rude to my wife's mom before the ceremony that she cried. Company owner only cares about money and is extremely disrespectful. She talked negatively about us to our caterer, while unknown to her I was listening on speaker phone. She and the event coordinator were so sloppily dressed at the wedding that multiple guests identified them as "stragglers" and "riffraff" and asked if they should be removed by security. We were assigned three different coordinators in three months. Poor communication. Inconsistent information. There was nothing appropriate or competent about anyone at Rumley. Lots of old buildings that won't come with the Rumley staff and all their problems.
