I used to be a member of this gym and loved it! They are inside of First Baptist Church of Raytown and maintain and clean and quiet facility to work out. I joined because their prices were so incredibly cheap. If I remember, it was $24 a month. All of the treadmills have personal TV screens so you can watch a show to pass the time. It was never busy during the times I chose to work out, so I always had a good pick of machines. The bathrooms and locker areas were always cleaned and well-stocked. I had to drop my membership due to personal reasons, but if I were to ever join a gym again, ROC Fitness would be my first choice!

I guess to say my heart is in neighborhood fitness center.s The one's where you don't see a steroided muscle man walk around. I've decided from past experiences, I wanted one where I could easily freeze my membership due to work travel. I wanted a gym in my area, that was less than 10 minutes away....well, I found it.I received in the mail, a flyer saying the membership fee of $29 was waived in January for Roc fitness. I chose today to go and check it out. It's a small gym, with a small equipped weight room. The weight room has set of circuit machines for upper and lower body. There's cardio machines upstairs. There's also a 14 lap walking track. They have shower rooms with lockers. Overall, it's a pretty nice place. Great price, too: $22 a month. There's a $5 locker fee if you decided to get a permanent locker, and they charge a one time fee for the usb key to program a workout. I like that idea, and am going to do that. The classes change per season. I am interested in the adagio class, and the zumba classes. The staff were very helpful, and they arrange for an orientation, after you join. There's a cafe with, from what I've heard, the best French fries in Raytown. I suppose the gym is supposed to counter act the calories in the French fries?.Edit: This place grows on you. The more I am there, the more I like it.

I love the Roc Fitness Center and the staff! I attend Zumba classes there and have been going consistently for a year! The faciility is centrally located and is very affordable. The Zumba instructors are amazing and are very encouraging. I love it because its christian based. All our Zumba classes start with a devotional and a prayer.

Huge fan. My favorite place to work out by far. It is affordable and convenient. The weight room is a little lacking but the cleanliness and atmosphere more than make up for it. The lady who sits in the back office is a not very helpful, a little blunt, and all together rude. She seems to be the exception though.

I would have given the ROC 4 & 1/2 to 5 stars in the past, but in the last few months things are going down hill. They got a new director and since then, they removed the cups from the water cooler in the cardio area??? There is a stationary bike that has been broken for a few months with no indication on when it will be fixed. The Holiday hours are ridiculous for a gym. Open late and close early the day before Thanksgiving, open late and close early the day after Thanksgiving. Closed the entire week of Christmas??? When questioned about the discrepancy between the days they will be closed as per the website, I was told that it was because noone could figure out how to fix it. When I questioned the fact that although they are located in a church, they are still a business and the Holidays are some of the most important times for people to stay on their exercise regimen, the response I got was "It is important for the employees to spend time with their families. This is the way it is and it isn't going to change." Not sure what is going to change next, but won't be sticking around to find out. We will be looking for another gym. It may be a little further away and might cost a bit more, but it will be worth it if the first few months of the new directors actions are any indication of things to come.
