We found a gem! .... We were visiting and looked for a park for my son. This one's pictures stood out to me-- the cool climbing structure and zip line thing!! BUT this Yelp gps took us to what I thought was another park... and I was so confused. We parked and walked down the long, curvy sidewalk, and saw many kids playing. The playground looked different. More generic but still nice. And a cool cliff w big rocks that kids could play on-- a staircase running through. But I was still confused where the playground went that I saw in the pics... AND THEN... I asked a local there and they told me it's still the same park but a separate, cooler playground, about a 15 second drive/ 8-10 min walk down the brick road, on the other side of the park. Awesome!!! It's a big place! So we went back to the car, drove around the corner like he taught us (down the road from the community center and turn right, then you'll see it). Also the community center was open (winter kids camp was going), and let us all use the bathroom. Yay! We pulled up and saw the great looking climbing structure, big wide metal slides, zip line sitting rope, other slides. And many people out. We enjoyed sitting on the benches in the beautiful 60* sun, as my son had a blast and made quick friends! We stayed an hour, chatted w locals, appreciated the beautiful rock Cliff structures all around and beautiful old houses. We loved this park!! A gem in a city!!

This review is more or less for the entire area around Roanoke Park, not necessarily the playground or anything specific... It's a great, big park in midtown KCMO! There are beautiful miniature bluffs surrounding it, nice older homes, trees galore, and space to roam. I've found a running route that takes me through here and really enjoy it on the summer nights. You'll find cyclists, joggers, people lounging about, kids at the playground, and a community center near the heart of it all. Oh, and trails! It's not an extensive network of trails like Swope Park, but there are some wooded bridal trails if that's your thing. My knock is that there are some areas that appear less than safe, and lots of broken glass throughout. Don't take your doggos on these for that reason. On a couple portions, you'll find old-school brick streets. These add character to the area in my opinion. You can also take Karnes Boulevard up and around all the big houses and sneak in some nice views of the city. Highly recommend checking out this park if you're nearby.

With the rope structures and zip line, this is a great park for older kids! There are also swings and some areas for smaller kids, as well as a few picnic tables.

I stumbled upon this park one morning in here in Kansas City, MO, felt at peace here, and spent about 2 hours here before heading to Union Station later that day for 2017 Kansas City marathon and half race expo.I was here to kill time and enjoy the scenery, but as it turns out, it was quite the scenery for a daily dose of the game Pokémon Go (among other things), so I decided to check in here on yelp. The park itself is complete with playground equipment and the kids with their parents nearby to really take the time to soak every bit of karma and zen. It was nice to see these families with young children having the time of their lives, especially on a Friday. Sometimes, it's just that away time from work with the kids that makes life pretty special. It was quite nice to have that quiet time to be able to just decompress from life and be one with nature. During my time here at Roanoke Park, the fast pace of life tended to slow down and for me to enjoy the fact that I was on vacation and not in a rush to get somewhere. I sat along a bench and started to listen to music while drafting some new yelp reviews before finishing up other ones. I did like the quiet time and it was away from the busy streets of Kansas City. The air was sweet and quite fantastic and the solitude of the world helped me calm down and all was well. I did enjoy my time here and hopefully will return again soon, if travels permit me to do so. The overall experience here at Roanoke park is probably one of the better Kansas City parks I've been to. The park itself is the possibly a crowning jewel and it was just beautiful. It was nice to walk around the park and just be existing with it. Definitely a blissful time and know that it was awesome. Roanoke Park is located off W 39th Street on Valentine Road in a residential subdivision in the heart of Kansas City. It's a beautiful piece of real estate that is quite gorgeous to live and play here (or nearby). Since this is a neighborhood park is probably maintained by the city or county, admission is free. Free to celebrate life to the highest decree and just enjoy what the day has to offer to everyone. Free parking is limited here, but plentiful depending on what time of day you get here and secure parking. Not sure if there is really regional public transportation to get here or not, but I came here via rental car. Probably it's the easiest to do is to travel here by car anyway. There are exercise equipment in the park, among other things, stationed here. For most of us who like to get in a nice sweat, running or walking around the lake would be the best ideal thing to do. I would love to recommend coming here, if you feel the need to unwind and decompress from a tough day at the office. The vibes from the lake will soothe your soul and calm your nerves. Good karma thoughts are always welcomed here. Still, Roanoke Park is one of those neighborhood sanctuaries that can be the most amazing urban oasis out there. Kansas City is an amazing place, once you begin to realize that state line road is the dividing line between Kansas and Missouri. It's pretty cool how people say "KCK" and "the Missouri side".5.0 stars for the overall experience. Definitely a nice respite from what life has to offer on a daily basis. The park is well maintained and has its share of trash bins. It's clean and basically an option to come here if you are bored.Support local!A+

Like the last review - my fiancé and I stumbled upon this park on our way to Miami Ice, from Union Station. We were just out and about enjoying fun things around KC and had to stop. It looked just too fun and epic not to! Keep in mind we are in our 20s and we both still had a blast. We even brought our dog and were able to loop her around a tree in the shade and still be able to watch her from a distance. So to sum this park up - it's super fun for adults too and is able to accommodate to that, as well! The zip line was able to hold both of us, and my fiancé is about 250lbs or so. We both had a lot of fun maneuvering the rope obstacle course and had a good view from the top! However, the slides were super hot in the sun, because they're all metal, so decided to part. But all-in-all, we definitely recommend!

This is a really cool park. The main park is in a natural depression, sort of like a valley, surrounded by outcroppings on three sides. Other 'extensions' of the park contain huge trees, steep hills, and playground equipment. Don't miss the beautiful Mansions in the Roanoke Neighborhood, east of the park . The Colman Highlands Neighborhood is to the North, and Volker and West 39th Street are to the West. A quaint brick road bisects the middle of the park. Don't miss the tennis courts or the hidden, winding street up to the Roanoke Neighborhood. That street passes a Frank Lloyd Wright house (hidden from the street), Thomas Hart Benton's home and museum, and a 1960s house that has a garage floor painted by Jackson Pollock (most likely). Sometimes there can be sketchy people in the park, but really it's a safe place.

A park that "just had potential" now has it. This green space happens to sit in my neighborhood and in the past year I've seen it go from overgrown to park pretty. Roanoke Park sits in the middle of a gorgeous residential midtown neighborhood. An old fashioned brick path surrounds the park and hundred year old trees shade the area. Just recently, nearby residents raised $10,000 to build new sitting space. Must check this out soon! For now, it's a fantastic place to take a walk or walk the dog. The scenery during Fall is unbelievable. You happen to forget that you're in the center of the city. It's very quiet and scenic. No busy traffic to look at or hear - unlike Loose Park or Mill Creek Park. A truly secluded, peaceful escape for a city rat like me!

This park is clean and super awesome! My kids played for a couple hours, would have gone on forever. There's a lot to do with the climbing tower to the high slide, too scary for my liking, the zip line was a hit, and there's a sand area to play in along with a kiddie merry go round. It was great, wish there was one by my house in CA. Neighborhood is super cool too! Cool houses

I love this park, they have really started to add a lot of new playground equipment and they recently hosted a Dance in the Park event. I just moved in near here and walk my dog through the park everyday. There are a lot of other dog walkers in the area and although my pup is leash aggressive towards other dogs, I haven't had a single bad experience here yet. The dog owners, people, and families in the area are very kind! The park hosts trees that are extremely old in some areas. This park has a lot of character and you can tell the committee that is in charge of keeping it up to date does a great job.
