Ricos Tacos Lupe

What can I say about Rico's other than they have the best street tacos in Kansas City. The service is great, the food is fast and delicious. We are addicted.

TL;DR: While the food wasn't bad, there were a few disappointing items, and when you consider the service, price, and ambiance, there are much better Mexican joints all over the KC metro and Southwest Blvd in particular. If you want a recommendation, I love love love San Antonio Carniceria Y Tortilleria. Some friends and I stopped in for some tacos and tamales (not pictured) for dinner, and while most items were good, we weren't sure what to make of the chicken tacos, which tasted like they were seasoned with Indian curry powder (?). We were also disappointed by the tamales, which were mostly masa (tortilla paste) and not enough meat filling. Compared to other taco joints where you can grab your own limes, salsas, and condiments, there weren't enough limes to go around and we had trouble asking for more because the primary servers were two kids who were either busy serving orders or on their phones at the other side of the restaurant.Overall, it was a bit of an unfortunate experience. For the price, I'd still say it was worth it, but it wasn't quite the cool hole-in-the-wall we were expecting.

Kansas City staple for sure! $2 burrito day is now $3.50 and that's still a great deal! Looks like they've expanded the kitchen since I've been last. Looks like you're in Mexico! For cheap and pretty good food this is your place. Not sure if I'll be back, I just wasn't too impressed. My chicken was overly salty. The chips were stale so I didn't eat them. When they asked if everything is Ok I said yeah but these taste a little stale. She took the chips and I thought she would be bringing fresh ones but she did not.

This spot never disappoints. It's the best place to grab tacos in the metro! BAR NONE!

There are not a lot of food places that get 5/5 stars in every category.This restaurant was very clean! Our server was extremely kind, welcoming, while also giving great recommendations.The food... The food deserved that moment of silence just now.It truly had my friend and I in pure bliss.The green salsa was my favorite but the hotter salsa which is the red orange was very good spicy, but greatly flavored.

This restaurant has great service, charming decor and stays pretty busy with take out orders. I had an asada torta that was huge and delicious, it was a bit sloppy to eat but worth it. I got an assorted dozen tamales of pork and chicken to take home too, they told the cheese jalapeno are the most popular - I need to go back and try them. The green salsa that comes with chips when you dine in probably one of my favorite salsas in KC, in a spice wimp so if you like heat it may not be your deal.

The tamales & tacos are a go to for game days. The tamales are cooked to perfection. The carne asada tacos are my favorite. Best street tacos in KCMO.

Our office gets the house burritos on Thursdays! Love them but can't wait to go visit during lunch when I can spend more than an hour and explore the rest of the menu!

There's not a lot of places I'd willingly walk into that have bars on their windows but this place I would go and risk my life for. This little area is known for traditional Mexican food and it does not ever disappoint. Homemade tortillas, homemade salsas, tamales, everything. I think I could eat a thousand tamales from Rico's. This place is nothing short of amazing. If you're looking for a traditional Mexican restaurant give this a try. Give the whole block a try!

I'm puzzled by some of the panning.. Best taqueria in KCMO and my favorite salsa in the tristate area . (I've seen people sip it.) Sorry if you didn't like your 'chicken tacos'. Id recommend the tacos pastor and Barbacoa cuz im a grownup
