Ricks Place

Ricks place is cool, but I would spend way more money if they had twisted teas. Until they do, I will be participating in a silent protest where I only drink their cheapest drinks and complain to the bartenders about the drink selection. Otherwise, a fun place.

Solid place for drinks and a game. They have a hoop to shoot on as well as a nice shuffleboard. Outdoor area available too if needed.

Only time I've used Yelp. I fucking love Rick's. Used to go way more often then I do now. But tried to go at 1.04 am and chairs were up on bars and ol girl was cleaning up and the open sign was on of course and the only guy inside that I could see said, "hey some guy trying to come in", and the doors were already locked and he proceeded to close the blinds and turn off the open sign. In the time I needed Rick's the most. Not what Rick or BC would have wanted.

Rick's Place is rich with Lawrence history. I remember going to the original "Bogart's" on 8th Street in the 70s. Somewhere along the line it moved over to the 600 block of Vermont. Then Rick bought the place from Tom Tharp in the 80s and moved down the street to a bigger space before settling in its present spot. In the 70s it was a hippie bar and remained a Lawrence hippie haven when hippies went out of vogue in the 80s and 90s. There were so many old regulars but we always welcomed friendly newcomers. Rick's has always been a great place to meet and greet and will always be open for business in my heart and memories!

Great little neighborhood bar. Never super busy but plenty of room. Good drink specials and free popcorn!

Great service and all around atmosphere! My "go to" when in Lawrence!!! No food but food is very near by. Tons of parking and cool people

Love!Such a great environment. All the games you can imagine. Strongly recommend. Bartenders are friendly and get you your drinks fast!

Was looking forward to this bar because of the shuffleboard table and other games but the bartender treated us as if we shouldn't of even been walking in there. We got there on a Sunday around 6 pm or so and the bartender just killed the whole vibe of my Sunday drink time. Which really sucks bc Sunday is my Friday! Not going back.

Favorite Lawrence bar. Great to get back to Lawrence drink prices after moving to KC.
