Rice House

Yo, this is the best Chinese takeout I've had in the whole city, I swear. We ordered a variety of items. Pineapple fried rice, shrimp fried rice, vegetable lo mein, orange chicken, and crab rangoon. All were phenomenal! I'd never had pineapple fried rice, but it was something I'd for sure order again- that salty sweet combo is something to write home about. The chicken they use here is top notch! I've had a lot of questionable chicken at some American Chinese restaurants but this was great, all white meat. The mustard sauce they provide is also homemade! 10/10 will be back. The service is a little cut and dry but the food definitely made me want to come back.

As is our tradition we go out for Chinese food every Christmas Eve, typically to a different restaurant each year. This year we chose Rice House as it is located in close proximity to our church making it easy and efficient to eat in plenty of time for the Christmas Eve service. Unfortunately when we walked in at 7:36 and found only a couple people sitting in what was a small space we were informed the kitchen was closed to dine-in orders - take-out only. We quickly decided to do that and have dinner in our car when a seated customer commented that take-out orders were over an hour wait. Since we didn't have that much time we left and spent the rest of our time searching for another Chinese restaurant that was open. Sadly there were none in the area. Next time we'll call and have a viable backup plan but this was a real disappointment. Since we didn't eat I can't comment on the food but the person at the front desk was calm and polite. That said we'll try it again as overall the reviews are positive. Lesson learned!

We love this local joint! Is the best Chinese food in south Kansas City! And the family is always welcoming and nice! We normally order to go, but the times we stay for lunch special their restaurant is very clean, quiet and welcoming! My daughter love their lo mein, and we love their Beef broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, triple delight and more! If you need a great lunch or dinner, with great flavor and great price, then head to the rice house!!!

Food: consistency is always the same. Flavor is good. The use all white meat chicken. I've had the general tso chicken, orange chicken & shrimp, egg foo young both chicken and shrimp, crab rangoon, egg drop soup, and a few other items. Their breading isn't heavy, shrimps are deveined and sauces aren't heavy. Service: everyone I've encountered has been super nice. Always order carryout But the dining area is always clean there are usually a few people eating inside, a small tv available as well. What I like about this restaurant over the others. The food is simply good portions are great and I never have to wait for my food when I order. If they say 15, it will be ready.

Fast, hot food that tastes good. Portions are HUGE so be careful how much you order. Staff is friendly. Place is clean.

Got lots of food for family definitely recommend all food was great and they even gave us some free donuts

We have eaten here for many years. Tonight was the last night. Wrong orders, inedible food and then charged for someone else's order. On several occasions we have had to drive back to get missing items or wrong order-what a pain.

We have gone here for years and they are really not deserving of your patronage. Something has changed. Tonight our order was wrong and at checkout I was told the wrong amount/order. When I called I was questioned about the error like it was my fault. The order is the order. Just done.

They have great egg drop soup. I ordered house fried rice yesterday & it was not hot but hard & dry as though it had been sitting around the kitchen for awhile. I don't think I will ever order that again. They have a female waitress that is not very friendly at all.

I normally would not take the time to leave a review but my families experience at rice house was terrible. Portions were small. When we found hair in the rice they became defensive and said it wasn't theirs even though it was buried in the rice and did not match our hair. We simply wanted a new rice and perhaps an apology. Food is average at best and service is terrible. Won't be back!
