Red Bridge Barrio

We went as a large group to say goodbye to a coworker who is leaving our employer. They assigned us all a number so it was easy and quick to find who ordered drinks, food and we could just say our number to add or pay for our order. The food was fresh and delicious. I ordered the chicken nachos on the Happy Hour menu. Margaritas can be over ice or frozen. I got Strawberry and Coconut mixed. They are also on the Happy Hour Menu. I did not hear any complaints from anyone on food or service for such a big party size.

Place was loud , but had good food , we enjoyed the beers, they had , the server was not very friendly .

So, after having ordered food from here to go a couple of times, my husband and I decided to actually stay and eat here. This time, we also tried something different. We both ordered the Chimichangas (chicken) and they were great. We also ordered the smoked beef quesadillas and these were very tasty. I loved the combo with the corn relish inside. Since we dined in, we ordered drinks. I had a very tasty mango drink that was like a mojito, but with vodka and a hint of lemon, and it was very very tasty. The service was not bad, but the waitress did seem lost or not aware that we didn't have napkins nor silverware when we sat down. I began eating the quesadilla and had sauce dripping down my hand when I began eating it. Additionally, we were served our appetizer without any extra plates, it just felt a little uncivilized. The only reason I am not not giving this review a 5, even though a five can go to the food, and the service could get a 3.5, but a 3 goes for the dining area, which was filthy. I found scattered nachos and pieces of paper on the carpet (why a restaurant has carpet beats me) and the restaurant didn't appear to be so busy that they couldn't have someone clean the area.

First time here, had lunch with two friends. I had three soft beef tacos with Beans and rice. We ate on the patio since it was a nice day. Waitresses were super nice and kept me loaded with Diet Pepsi.

I've been to the Barrio in Martini Corner, and somehow it doesn't hold a candle to this one. The two times that I've been (this time for a quick happy hour snack) the food has been excellent, the service has been excellent... it's somehow a much different- and better- experience than at the one downtown.

We stopped here for lunch after taking the kids to Wonderscope & everything was delicious! Our waiter Kristen was super sweet & very attentive. She kept us refilled & had our orders out fast! The food was hot & the drinks were strong! We had a great time just being out when everyone! It's in a shopping center with lots of great places all around. Definitely centered in a great location. The inside was very spacious & clean. They did have flies but I'll just say it was because their "garage" was open got the patio. It wasn't too bothersome so I won't take a star off. I'll give it a 9/10.

So I have been driving by this place for few years now thinking one day I try it. We have few Mexican spots that we always go to so this past week we were debating on where to eat and I suggested to try this place. We came here for lunch and OH MY! What have we been missing on! We didn't get any drinks since we were on lunch break (work you know) but we tried the food and it's delicious to say the least. Service was super fast and excellent with recommendations and constant checking to see if we needed something. The ambiance was very modern with good lightening and open garage style doors to allow fresh air in. We thought it gave the place an edge. We will definitely come back. It hit all the marks for us and we were so happy leaving there knowing we will definitely come back!

My wife and I had an all-too- rare opportunity for a weekend getaway and decided to start it a day early by dining at a restaurant where we had never eaten before. We had in hand a generous gift card that we'd been holding for several months to The Barrio, so we decided this would be a great night to use it. Let me start by saying that my three-star rating is probably more informed by my personal tastes than it was by the overall experience. The venue was nice enough. The entry after dark felt very "high end" with the outdoor seating area being flanked by LOVELY fire features. The hostess desk was super cool with its gilded organic wood construction. The space was open and well lit, and the hostess seated us immediately despite not finding our reservation in her system. The whole space had a "modern farmhouse" sort of vibe. Our server was good... He really perked up when we told him we were first timers and he offered his recommendations (and reservations!) in direct response to our questions. Like I said, there was nothing "wrong" with the evening.My biggest point of hesitation with writing this review is that I just didn't love the food. The tequila and mezcal cocktails were a bit smoky for my preference. The spice profile was a bit more "artsy" than my Tex-Mex palate preferred, making use of spices that felt out of place to me. The portions were generous, and the dishes were freshly prepared. Again, it was NOT bad... I just didn't love it. My wife felt the same. Near the end of our visit, our server asked if we were secret shoppers... Perhaps it was because I was taking photos of each food item as they arrived. When I told him we were not secret shoppers, he leaned in and asked again. We all chuckled. I told him I was part of Yelp's Elite Squad and that I was gathering info to write a review. That seemed to satisfy his curiosity, and we all enjoyed a laugh. Then he asked me, "So, how did I do?" I reflexively responded, "You did fine." Oops! Once again, he pressed the question: "Like at least a 6.5 out of 10?" I laughed and reassured him he did way better than that, which made him happy, and he went to settle our check. As we finished the evening, we left a very generous 41% gratuity... Interestingly enough, it was the exact amount of the remaining balance on our gift card. ;-)

Thank you so so so much to Hercules for making this an amazing. This is my 3rd Barrio location in Kansas City and this was by far my best experience LET ALONE ON NATIONAL MARGARITA DAY. She went above and beyond, from running ragged for us to answering every question we had to reciting every deal because we kept forgetting. She was nothing short of the best waitress I have had. She has truly made me a repeat customer simply with this one hour interaction!
