My husband and I made the mistake of working with Pro DJ KC for our wedding day. They seemed reputable and professional from our initial meeting, but it was a totally different story on the days leading up to the wedding on the actual day. They were incredibly slow to respond to emails asking for help with their survey of songs we wanted to hear, and we didn't speak to our DJ until 2 days before the wedding. After our conversation, we felt pretty confident in our choice, but Pro DJ KC was the worst vendor I worked with and came very close to ruining my wedding. The DJ, Perry Holliday, arrived at the wedding an hour late, which meant our ceremony and cocktail hour had to be delayed since we had to wait for him to set up. Since I had entertainment planned during the cocktail hour, I had to pay for an extra hour of entertainment ($240) and ended up having to pay the venue an extra hour to make up for his tardiness ($300). Since he was late, he didn't have time to do a soundcheck. When he was supposed to play music after the ceremony for our processional, there was complete silence for five minutes. Our family and friends eventually had to clap us out down the aisle, and only when we were halfway down the aisle did music start playing--the wrong version of our favorite song. (He had been given the correct one.) We had spoken to him on the phone two days before the wedding, and had given him a list of songs and Spotfiy playlists for each moment through the survey. He played the wrong songs during the cocktail hour, leading to a pretty low-key mood when I wanted something more upbeat and celebratory.During the reception, the mic cut out during the Best Man and Fathers of the Bride and Groom speeches. He didn't properly direct people for dining. And he played a number of songs we asked him not to play, including songs with explicit language. When he happened to play songs we did want, there were a number of times the music just cut out and he would restart it again. It was complete amateur hour--there was a point when I was responding more to his constant mistakes than our happy occasion. Thankfully he wasn't able to completely take away from the joy of the day, but no one should have to deal with that kind of incompetence and unprofessionalism. When I left a negative review on his page, he said that he had to use Pro DJ's equipment, which he says led to the technical mistakes he made.Pro DJ KC said they would refund our deposit and not require us to pay the balance three days after the wedding. (Getting that DJ for free is still too expensive as he cost us $540 extra in unforeseen costs.) But it's been over three weeks since our wedding and we haven't been refunded. I even got an email asking us for the remaining balance 3 days ago. The owner / customer service has not responded to my immediate email reminding them of the poor service we received and asking for the promised refund. It was such a disappointing experience, and something no bride should ever have to deal with on their wedding day. If you're looking for a professional and competent DJ, and great customer service, run in the opposite direction PRO DJ KC.

We actually heard great things about this DJ service so that is why we went with them. The initial meeting was great but the week before the wedding is when things started to seem concerning. We actually did not get assigned a DJ for our wedding until two days before. This I assume gave the DJ very little time to prepare and look over our suggestion sheet. The day of the wedding we had a few issues with mics during the ceremony but that was easy to brush off. After the ceremony as the bride I wanted to enjoy the wedding, but most of the time I had to hold my DJ's hand to make the wedding go smoothly, even though we had a detailed conversation and go-over of the plan and details before! He forgot to announce half of my wedding party (I talked with him on how to announce names 5 minutes before he did it). He did not initiate toasts and I had to personally grab the mic to hand to my family. He did not honor any of my song requests on my sheet. He was completely out of sorts and un-aware of how to use his own company's equipment...... and about half of the songs during the dancing portion of the night for some reason just stopped playing in the middle of the song. He did however come over and apologize many times for not being a good DJ, which was nice but not something I wanted to really focus on during my own wedding!!!!! Long story short the DJ was extremely un-professional, and unaware of how to run a wedding. I would not recommend this specific DJ, (maybe we just got the bad luck of the draw) too bad we had to pay the same price. Fortunately my photographer was amazing and actually helped make the night run smooth, which is supposed to be the DJ's job.
