I wish I had the ability to secure some acreage and put a building on it and bring my dog to work and my job would be to have people that like the same stuff that I like come hang out with me and shoot. That's what this place is. Kansas has lots of land and this land is perfectly Suited for a Sporting Clay Park. You have the choice to do trap and skeet or walk they 1.3 Mile Trail to shoot Sporting Clays. We opted for the latter as this was a day after Thanksgiving and I was extra super fat. They use a key card type system that they pre-program the RFID Card and as you go around to the different stations we opted for 200 Clay's but they give you 235 to account for breakage and flinging out some Clays that you want to see where they go.It looks like you can probably bring your own golf cart and do that but the walk actually did me a lot of good. Just like golf there are Reds and blues the reds are harder the blues are easier theoretically but we had a great time blasting neon colored clay discs. I brought just a hundred rounds but I had to go get another box cuz I wanted to shoot a little bit more. They have guys on buggies that will come around and pick you up and take you back to get the Mo if you run out or maybe get something to drink which I did. And of course they have a beautiful black lab there to give lots of love and pets 2. Also they are more than willing to be visible as they frequently drive around to make sure everything is okay overall this is a great place and I wish I could replicate what they did here in my hometown.

Powder Creek Shooting Park is an excellent place to take friends and family to go clay shooting. The park trail and shooting stations are perfect. Unfortunately, one of the employees at the front desk of the main building is extremely rude. I have been to Powder Creek three times and each time the lady behind the counter is dismissive, irritable, and impolite. The last time I went I asked for 200 sporting clays on my Powder Creek card. She was extraordinarily short with me, raised her voice saying that I cannot get 200 clays. Apparently 200 is not an option available to purchase. Instead, I then asked for 4 rounds of 50 sporting clays. She processed the order and I left to shoot. She was exceptionally rude and argumentative when she could have just politely explained the situation. Her demeanor makes me very hesitant to return since each time I have to prepare to be accosted when attempting to make a purchase.

I've only come here to shoot trap. Not sure if there are many other options in KC. I like the automated system they have. The times I have come I have been able to get on the range quickly. They have an automatic thrower, you yell "pull" and the clay pigeon flies from the bunker. Be ready because you need to be quick on the trigger. For novices I think the bunkers are too far out. Friendly staff and the patrons are good folk too.

The saying USUALLY goes "gun people are fun people" but every once in a while you meet one that is just horribly insufferable. I came to Powder Creek today, and it was the 1st time I've been here in probably over 10 years, perhaps more. There was a sign on the door when I arrived that read they were "closed for public shooting today", which was totally fine with me since I was just trying to take a look around, besides I had no firearms with me. Upon entering I noticed that they were about to have a ceremony of some sort. It looked super cool and I wanted to see if I can be a part of it not knowing what it was, but understanding it was gun related obviously. That is when I met Tonya. My 1st comment to her was to inquire about the event setup I was witnessing. She seemed utterly uneager to help me whatsoever, which is when I told her that I'd "just look around if that was OK" Her response was "No it's NOT OK" So I said "Thanks Tonya" And proceeded to leave while her dog suddenly started choking on something- obviously shocked about her rude tone, I'm sure. My deal is that this is not a cheap sport, and I just won't patronize a place with such rude staff. There are plenty of other places to shoot, and probably much nicer too- (which by the way wouldn't be a hard feat) so certainly no loss there. Thanks Tonya!

I visited this range with my dad because he is a big competitive skeet shooter visiting me from out of state and he wanted to see the local range. Not only was the range nice and the staff friendly but they lent him a gun and he made friends with more than a few people, repeatedly getting invited back. It was lovely how welcome I know they made him feel, and even I was getting recruited for lessons for a women's league :)

It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum... and I'm all outta gum. Well...not exactly a scene from Duke Nukem, but this place is friggin awesome.Located on a big piece of land right outside of Lenexa between the country and the suburbs, this place caters to all you hunters and shotgun lovers! Right when you drive up the gravel road, you can hear the shotguns firing away. There are three types of shooting fields; sporting clays, trap, and skeet (in that order). Some times the sporting clay course is setup for competitions or leagues, so just be mindful of that. Pricing is different for each type of shooting, but seemed to be all pretty reasonable, including ammo for those that forget to buy it for cheap at walmart. All three people that I've dealt with at the counter have been very pleasant to work with and very helpful in explaining everything. Any questions the front counter couldn't answer I was able to get answered by some of the seasoned shooters in the park. There is only one thing I found a bit unsettling. There hasn't been a whole lot of staff roaming the grounds keeping an eye on things, unless I just couldn't tell who they were. Either way, when there is a slew of people with shotguns in their hands, I feel there should be a tad more supervision. Most gun people know gun safety though, so take it for what it's worth.I know it is hard for some people, but be smart and don't ruin this hidden gem so we can all enjoy it for years to come!!

Truth be told, it's a little intimidating knowing that any one of these yay-hoos can turn around and blow your head off in the open country.But.... anxiety aside, it's a great place to do some sport/clay/skeet shooting. The staff members are friendly and down to earth local people who don't mind explaining how the range works. Obviously, you will need to bring your own gun (no rifles, only shotguns) and your own ammo. You then purchase your 'tokens' inside which you then deposit in the boxes outside each specific range. I think one token equals around 30 shots total. The place is well kept and the scenery is beautiful. You really don't notice that you are right inside the hub of the bub we call Lenexa. It gets very busy on the weekends and you will have to do some waiting. It's a great place to spend a nice fall afternoon.

It's great, IF... (summary at the bottom)I went there with my friend and did their sporting clays course and it was a LOT of fun. They have a really cool setup there with different angles, speeds, and challenges for sporting clays. One issue is that almost every time we came to a stand, the battery wasn't working, so we had to play with the connectors on the battery. But my friend is a mechanic and fixed them each time with no problem. Would have been very annoying if we had to call them to fix it every time like they said we should do.But overall, it was a ton of fun. So we decided to shoot a round of Trap before we left. That's when one of their employees came over and said that since the start of 2023 they didn't allow people to shoot shotguns with a barrel less than 24 inches, but that I could get a refund for the round of Trap that I had just bought. When I went inside, they acted like they weren't going to give me a refund at first, and at one point the manager sounded like he thought I bought my shotgun because I wanted to shoot people, but they did eventually decide to give me a refund.TL;DR So, overall, if you have a shotgun with a barrel that is at least 24 inches long, and you don't mind either playing with a car battery or waiting for someone to come fix it, you will have a really good time there, because they do have a good setup.

Laid back place to bust clays. I like that I can pre-load clays onto my card and just walk onto the course for a quick round. They usually have shells in stock, but I'd suggest you definitely bring your own.I will say that one of the desk ladies is very rude.

Stop the shooting past sundown. It's loud and obnoxious. Your website says you close at 6p on Thursday but you are still shooting up until 9p. You are too close to residences to be shooting this late.
