Food - really goodService - greatAmbiance nice and bright green and complimentary color scheme.Wend on 2/26/25 during happy hour.Place on 1 side was mostly empty but that's perfect for me.Got a nice Athletic Lite (na beer) and the happy hour combo. You get to pick 3 of 4 options on the menu.Their "penny's rangoon" is the creamiest Crab Rangoon I've ever had.Dumplings are good (maybe bigger @ Bamboo Penny's) with all 4 sauces includedSpring rolls are w/o shrimp and that's ok, is a great starter/app you get 4 halves with the combo.I really like this place as a quick stop for lunch, esp during happy hour, hopefully they do good business in the evenings and weekends as the h.hour @ 3.30 or so was seemingly dead except for a older crowd on a weekday (maybe typical).

My friend treated me to lunch at Penny's earlier this week, and we had an absolutely MARVELOUS time! It was our first visit, and we'll definitely be back!!We can't say enough good things about our server, Bri! She was so friendly, and took the time to walk us through the menu, and answered all our questions, and gave us good guidance regarding menu choices. She made modifications to our order when we had special requests, which we really appreciate. She was really efficient--we didn't have to wait to place our order, and our appetizer and main dishes came out very quickly, and when it came time to pay the bill we hardly had any wait time. Bri checked on us several times during our meal to make sure that everything was to our satisfaction; she even brought out a tray of condiments to see if we'd like to try them on our main courses. (We really liked the cucumber-onion sauce!)Our meals were OUTSTANDING!! Both my friend and I have visited many Thai restaurants in the Kansas City metro area, and the level of cuisine at Penny's is SUPERB! Everything tasted so fresh, and the flavors were perfectly balanced, and the portions were perfectly sized. I had the Pad Thai with shrimp, and everything was SO delicious; the shrimps were large and succulent and perfectly cooked, and the Pad Thai was perfectly spiced. My friend had the Panang Curry with Chicken, and ate all of it (she almost always leaves with a leftover container), so that tells you how much she enjoyed it. We had the Fresh Spring Rolls for our appetizer--and it's been a LONG time since I've had spring rolls that taste THAT good! We finished our meal with Sweet Sticky Rice and Mango, and it was an amazing finish! The rice is cooked with butterfly pea essence, giving it a purple hue, and the mango slices were plentiful and perfectly ripe. The restaurant has been renovated since the prior occupant, and we LOVE the new look: high ceilings, bright and airy with plenty of windows, yet cozy and welcoming due to the décor and placement of tables. We especially love the hummingbird and leaf sculptures hanging from the ceiling. It felt like we were in a magical forest. It was an AMAZING meal, and one we're looking forward to repeating soon! Many thanks to everyone at Penny's for such a wonderful time!

Oops, she did it again! Chef Penny Mufuka's restaurant empire groweth yet again. Over the weekend, she opened her newest endeavor, Penny's in the Village -- an upscale Thai eatery in The Shops of Prairie Village. If you're a fan of her original Leawood location--and who isn't, really?--you'll love the contemporary spin she's given this one. Her newest menu comes complete with plenty of flavorful Thai street food and many of her signature entrees. (Shared plates--for the win!)Oh, and take a minute to appreciate all of Penny's flower power décor. She spent six months picking out every last bit of flora in the restaurant. (And it's stunning.)Next time y'all want Thai food, call me. I know where we're going!

One of the hosts was a bit rude, waitress was great, the food... not authentic. Definitely Americanized Thai. Probably wouldn't go there when I crave Thai food. Lettuce wraps tasted a bit sloppy Joe ish. Curry was good. Phad sea ewe was basic. Overpriced as well for what it was. There are much better places to eat Thai.

Excellent service and a great selection of foods; dumplings, rice dishes, noodles, soups, and sticky rice. Also, great mocktails (every cocktail has an NA version!)

First off, the space is beautiful! Greenery everywhere, definitely Penny's touch. The food is as good as you are used to from their other locations. The curry puffs are craveable, and the Massaman curry is darn near perfection. Playful cocktail list, and it's really cool that you can order any of the drinks in a non alcoholic version. Very well done to the Penny's Team.
