Opening day for the new kid on the block. With Macarena's, Taco Bell, and Qdoba all within a half block, it will be interesting to see how the Mexican casual/fast food battle plays out. Panchos is on the northeast corner of Chouteau and Vivion - a very difficult corner to get in and out of. They have refurbished this long abandoned building with a new asphalt parking lot, installed a drive through and added a very colorful dining area with bright pastels, and kitschy and predictable Mexican pop culture decorations. Clean, sleek and welcoming. The menu is huge and I suggest that you study it before you try and do the drive-thru or hold up people in the restaurant line. After a good 5 minutes of perusing the menu, I finally settled on the first thing on the menu - the Carne Asada burrito for $10.75. I'm not sure if this was an opening day giveaway, but they had a large pan of free cinnamon chips on the counter to help yourself to while you waited - just like Five Guys does with peanuts. The condiment bar had 4 sauces - and a pan of pickled carrots. It said onions and carrots but it looks like someone either picked them out by noon or the kitchen crew was holding out. Release the Pickled Onions!! I selected the green avocado sauce which was labeled as hot - but it was not hot in the least. The burrito was a good size and was stuffed with meat, a good schmear of guacamole and pico. The carne asada which is usually chopped grilled steak was very odd, it wasn't quite hamburger and it certainly wasn't chopped bits of steak. It was an odd combination of that and probably something else for cost cutting. the taste was not inviting in the least. I can't see spending $11 on this in the future. I'll pay the same or more for a higher quality burrito up the street or a lot less at Taco Bell for something comparable. Will I return? Yeah, it's in the neighborhood and the menu is diverse, so I'm sure I'll find myself back for something different to try, and hopefully find a reason to give a higher rating, but for now a generous 3 stars will suffice.

Everything we tried at Poncho's was amazing, but the birria quesadilla? Pure perfection. It was a transcendent experience--I will never look at another quesadilla the same way again. The portion sizes were unbelievable--the chimichanga stretched the entire length of the takeout box, at least 8 inches and packed full. The quesadilla was massive, more like the size of a pizza calzone! And the birria? Hands down the juiciest, most flavorful I've ever tasted. 5

Wow! Got a chicken quesadilla and 2 hard shell shredded beef tacos! I didn't even have time to take a picture of them! So good! I love this place! The best late night food imo.

They have the best jalapeño queso and queso birria tacos in the area! My husband and I are becoming regulars. We also love the carne asada street tacos. When you dine in they have complimentary cinnamon chips. The bathrooms are also clean which is important too!

The abundance of food you get here is amazing! Their burrito and tortas are the ones I love and enjoy the most! These are packed with flavor and delicious juicy seasoned meat cooked perfectly. The service maybe long depends if they are busy. Atmosphere is just like any other.

Waited for the water issues to get resolved and finally got to try it. Ordered tamales which they didn't have and then settled on the Enchilada and Taco platter that came with beans and rice. The meat in the taco was ok, but did not satisfy the cost of the platter. The beans had little taste and the rice was "ok"... the biggest disappointment was the enchilada... I expected some kind of meat somewhere... instead got a bunch of shredded cheese that wasn't even melted. Won't go back :(

Offers dine-in and drive through. food and prices are alright, nothing to go crazy over but they are good for a late night craving as they are open pretty late.
