We went for the holiday lights. We did choose the adult only candlelight luminary night to go. It was so much fun and we enjoyed the lights so much! I now want to return in the spring and summer to see the flowers and the arboretum in the daylight.

I was here recently for the luminary walk- which was simply magical. The gardens were adorned with lights and fairy castles. They have several events throughout the year that allow you to walk the lighted gardens at night. They also have hiking trails, tours and more. The arboretum is open almost year round and sits on 300 acres. The gardens is home to more than 1,709 species. This place is great for families. They also offer rental spaces for weddings and other special events. It's pretty far south in Overland Park, but so worth the drive.

I love the arboretum! It's a hidden gem we take out of town guests to. I could seriously rave on about it. This review however is for one of their yearly events they hold in September. Terra Luna! Three years in a row we've gone to see Terra Luna and we have yet to be disappointed. It's usually my husband, my daughter, my mom and I that go. We all love something about it. There is a lot of walking involved and you do need to bring your patience. You walk around a pre designated path and enjoy the outdoors while watching incredible lights and performances. Some people go quickly through the whole thing and miss their opportunity to be fully enveloped in the experience. There are two types of tickets. An open time one which is more expensive and a timed one. We usually opt for the timed one. This is a great place to bring a date. They do sell adult beverages and light up things for the kids. We can't wait to see what they come up with next year!

Today I took my granddaughters here and it's a beautiful arboretum with botanical gardens. They have a lovely entrance visitor center with gift shop and meeting rooms and a nice café. They also have nice outdoor seating to bring your lunch or enjoy the café food or beverages. The price is five dollars for 18 and above and four dollars for 6 to 17 years old. They have a variety of named gardens to explore and lovely walking trails. I would say the only improvement suggestion is a little bit better signage more often telling what garden is up next. They do offer a map at the gift center where you pay, but I do not think the map is put together very well. I think more signage would be helpful to show what gardens are up ahead. They do have signs but not enough. I would say that we enjoyed all the gardens except the one that has the large driftwood and rocks as I feel like that is a wasted space. it would be nice if they had plants that were incorporated in that area instead. I will definitely be visiting again, but most likely in the fall or later spring or very early summer.

A pleasant park! Couldn't walk around too much but definitely spent a couple of hours enjoying the warm weather and tranquil views!Think it's a great place to take a long walk or hike around ~ not necessarily the best for the aesthetic photos of unique flowers etc~ Pretty simple procedure to get in; walk in and pay $5 and $50 for portraits... they have a large water area with plenty of benches and picnic tables to relax around. Definitely glad I came at least once! Would recommend to check out the other trails but overall just an ordinary land of plants~ 6.5/10!

Sure they've raised the admission from $3 to $5 [adults] and sure during nice and glorious weather you can expect crowds, but it's a lovely, nature-y space. They said the new visitor's center should be open by September 2023-waiting on elevator.I went on the Bluff Loop Nature trail and walked around the paved gardens; spend about four hours there...Had I brought myself lunch, and didn't have other responsibilities, I might have stayed longer. :)

The Overland Park Arboretum is a beautiful experience whether you're there for an event or you're there for date night. For adults over 18, it's $5 a person; a price that's hard to beat for the most beautiful ambiance, plants, flowers, trails, and water. My husband and I had a relaxing, romantic date night here and will definitely be back!

I have had the OP Arboretum and Botanical Gardens on my to-do list for quite some time; but when you live in the Northland, Johnson County can seem a long ways away, especially 179th St. I'm not even sure if that's a south Kansas City numbered street or a north Wichita number?!? During a staycation week, I decided to finally check it off my list. The park is much larger than I thought and we only saw a small portion. Staying relatively close to the entrance walking the International Sculpture Garden trail and enjoying the Monet Garden and the paths encircling Margaret's pond. A beautiful way to spend some quiet time and enjoy some well manicured nature. The sculpture walk was quite impressive with 25 large bronze sculptures scattered about on a 1/2 mile paved loop trail. For only a $3 admission fee, i'm eager to return and get a bit further off the beaten path on their 300 acre spread. Another top tier attraction here in the land of Burnt Ends and Boulevards.
