On the Hook

I've seen the truck around a few times, but was never able to stop. Finally caught them last night at Westlake Hardware in Lenexa. There were quite a few people waiting in line and a few more who had placed orders ahead online. I waited in line and even with the crowd and online orders, the order came up pretty quickly. I took it home and the food was still nice and hot by the time I got back. The fish was a good portion and breaded nicely. Personally I enjoy a more crispy coating, but it was still very good. The cod was fresh and tasted good on its own, but I also really enjoyed their tartar sauce. The chips/fries were also battered and really, really good. Perfectly crispy and had very good flavor. I would order from them again.

Oh chips a hoy show me the chips and fish so small I can't find them 15 for 3 pieces and fries handful of fries 1 piece of fish was normal size that should be servedthe other two I measured 1 inch thick and 6 inches longthe other piece was very smallso really 2 pieces of fish and some fries for 15same with the second ordernot worth the moneyget it home and its soggy anyway. really need to eat it there and then

My husband loves this food truck! He finds out when/where they will be and prioritizes a quick trip!One thing that I'm impressed with is how fast they fix the food. It is made to order, so they don't have a big pan of fish and chips just sitting there, it's made just for you. Great service. Not much to say about ambiance, it's a food truck! They do use a credit card scanner like "Square" You should plan on leaving a small cash tip if you wish.Condiments are provided upon request, but they only give you a couple ketchup packets. I always bring my own!

02/2024 - ON THE HOOK Fish & Chips food truckSaw long line in Kohl's parking lot, so I had to check it out. I ordered a meal (3pc fish & fries) w/ extra pc of fish = $21 + "required" tip (see below)PRO: freshly made, consistent with English fish & chipsCON: Only takes cards, which I thought was odd - until I paid. Cashier hands you a phone & you are required to tip to finish the transaction. I'm all for tipping...but don't like it as a requirement. Cashier said they use Square for card processing. Tips shouldn't be required. Not cool. I would have tipped more, in cash, if it wasn't on the card. Poor taste in my opinion. I literally received 6 fries in my container (see pic). For $21, I would have thought more. Came with too many sauces: tartar, sweet chili, ketchup & malt vinegar. Since I only used malt vin, I will be throwing away the rest. For cost & environment sake, wish the sauces were on request. Anyone need sauce, let me know...I have several.All in all, glad I tried. Was good, but not sure worth the hype. For $24, I'd probably go have a 2 course Thai meal down the street.

Price was about average for food trucks, in general.Wait time for delivery after my food (3 fish & chips) was ordered, 22 minutes - too long for a food truck.Taste was average, breading didn't have much flavor (salt would help) but good quality meat.The employee boxing meals spilled a customers box, burning himself, and yelled "f---" in front of about 20 patrons.I probably won't be back.

My husband loves on the Hook, so anytime they are in town we go. The quality has declined. Too much breading, I can't taste the fish. The quality is down, but the price is up. My husband does the required tipping at the end, I hit custom and add a very small tip. That step is ridiculous there should be a button to decline adding to an already inflated price. They have added more products, I think they need to get back to the quality they had before they got greedy.

Fish was rubbery and tough. Way overcooked with no seasoning. Pieces were small. Fries were greasy, but tasted ok. First and last time eating there. Would rather spend a bit more and get better quality.
