I am a fan of food trucks, and this truck shows up in different places around the metro. I visited today in Lee's Summit.Menu is limited, as to be expected with a food truck. Fish &Chips $16 + local taxes. You can order extra fish, and you just get fries $6.They were out of root beer for $3 and coleslaw. If you want to eat here, find an alternate place to get your beverage. So now for the food. The fries are great, coated fries, crispy, and hot. Comes with malt vinegar and ketchup. There is also a sweet dipping sauce that I did not use.You get 3 large pieces of fish. Crispy coating but does not overpower the fish. White fish that is fresh and does not taste 'fishy'.As a food truck experience, this was great. As for food, it was good. I would definitely buy fish from On the Hook again.

Traveling food truck. caught them in Excelsior Springs. was a chilly afternoon and they had a full line from opening at 11am until closing at 7pm. Fish and chips were not super greasy and were very hot hot hot right outta the fryer. all cooked beautifully and crisp not soggy. Appreciate they put everything in grease absorbing thick recycled cardboard containers and not styrofoam. this helps it not get soggy if you drive your food home. they sell Chowder as a special. (look on papers posted in windows for special items off menu!) and also sell drinks like bottled sodas. $15 for the fish and chips. option to buy just fish or chips or add more of either. tatar sauce, vinegar and ketchup provided in each meal. Coleslaw also. Nice staff. Cards and online payments (like apple pay) only. NO CASH except tips accepted.

Did you know you are on half-size portions now? And don't order the coleslaw unless you like huge cabbage chunks covered with someone's old sweet and sour sauce .. or something. Over it.

I've been meaning to find On The Hook Fish Truck since I saw them on Facebook. I chose the windiest night to locate them. They were in the parking lot at Lee's Summit At Home store. There were quite a few people waiting. One the Hook has Fish and Chips and that's it. A plate has 3 large pieces of breaded fish and battered fries. It's $14. It's worth the cost. The fish are large pieces, in smooth batter. They come with sirachi mayonnaise and tater sauce. There's a few menu options as well. If you have the chance, find this truck. It's worth it!

The Real Deal!I have watched the long lines for "On The Hook" for quite a while, but never felt waiting outside in such a long line was justified for fish and chips. Well, I have learned that you can teach an old dog new tricks. Catching their truck at 3:00 pm turned out to be a winner. The line was only two customers long and early hunger pains were pushing me into the Home Goods parking lot on MO 291.It turned out that the line was for customers waiting for their orders, so I jumped in with both feet. Looking at the menu I found their Fish and Chips meal (3 pieces of fish, Chips (fries), and tarter sauce was a solid $13.00 - not at all surprising in todays post COVID economy. Taking my credit card I was told that it would be less than five minutes wait - cool, it was going to be fresh! The meals were in hard paper containers that held the temperature constant for the 5 minute drive home. There we found the deep fried cod fresh, flakey, and having a great flavor. I understand that the oil used for the fryer contains a bit of Malt Vinegar to add the perfect enhancement to that flavor. The "chips" (fries) were crisp, but tender as they should be. For a food truck the service was fast, friendly, and efficient.I wish I would have realized that the "line" is usually half filled with customers waiting for their orders rather than waiting to order. That would have had me in that lines months earlier! Fresh fish and chips (rather than food piled up waiting under a heat lamp) really does make all the difference in the world. They also brought back memories of my first encounter with Fish and Chips as a young SP5 on leave in the UK in 1970, where the only food I could afford was Fish and Chips and Beef and Kidney Pie. I was hooked then and now hooked again. Recommended? Yes! I know that I will be back.

My wife stopped in Smithville and ordered fish, chips and slaw for the two of us. When she got home 15 minutes later, there was no slaw. She received a text asking how the food was so she let them know she didn't get the slaw. We were refunded the money for the slaw by the next day. The food was great and the refund for the missed food was excellent customer service.

I Living in Kansas City since the 1960's, I haven't found a chowder that was a true New England taste - until yesterday. Your chowder was full of clams, not too much potatoes and thick and creamy. Delicious! Thank you!!

Order and was charged for extra fish and didn't receive any :(The guys there were super chill and the food came out pretty quick compared to other trucks, but for the price (especially since I didn't get half my order) I don't think it's worth it
