This fair has been drawing folks for many decades. The locals love it and look forward to it every year. There are lots of fun activities with a parade throughout the four days. There are carnival rides, and a ton of vendor booths. My favorite part is the live music they bring in from the region. The bands and solo artists are exceptionally good. They perform on the main stage, which has a large grassy area for the audience, or on the historic bandstand, which has a smaller, but shady grass area. Be aware that parking is minimal for such large crowds. So you may have to walk a little ways. And there is no indoor access for bathrooms or a/c. But there are plenty of outhouses (is that what you call them?). Old Shawnee Days is a fun way to welcome in the summer, and makes for an anticipated tradition.

I am a 30 year resident of Shawnee. I appreciate the volunteers that put the parade together, however this year was lacking in organization, and quality of participants, This may be the most disappointing parade I've witnessed in Shawnee. Some of the parade started significantly past the beginning point - meaning we did not get to see several parade entries since they started 20% down from the parade start - not sure the logic for that. No floats to cover the history of Shawnee, and only one military or service member float. Posting of the colors at the parade beginning (by revolutionaly actors) was awkward and confusing. The police or military should post colors for our city. For next year, please have someone dedicated to represent Shawnee in the manner our city deserves. History indicates we can do it - learn from this year and come back much stronger next year.
