Love this little craft beer bar!!! The owner was so friendly and very knowledgeable about beer. Had one of the best stout sweet beers I've ever had. It was $14 but soooo worth it!

We tried this place out because they allow in outside food. They had several long high top tables, a few low tops and couch seating options, and windows facing the street. The staff was nice and pretty reserved with not much small talk. The 10oz beer pours are a bit deceiving because the glass is only 1/2 full with 1/2 head. My picture shows the pour before drinking it. The beer and seltzer selection is really varied. I would suggest this place to meet with larger groups of friends because of the space and large drink variety. The vibe is pretty chill, mostly couples keeping to themselves.

I appreciated the variety of beers available here, as well as the space. It's a good place for a crowd to meet (and we were a pretty large group on a crawl), both for casual chat and some lighthearted games. It's definitely a place to go if you are interested in sampling a variety of beers from the area.

Oak and Steel has the best curated craft beer selection in Kansas City. If you are a firm believer that stout season is every season you're in luck because they always have a couple of great stouts on tap. You can find the best KC IPAs, Lagers, and sours in tap as well. If you're not a beer fan, they have a great whiskey selection as well as other spirits and and wines to choose from.

I come to Oak and Steel often. It's the draw of the best tap selection in KC for me. As frequently as I sit down to enjoy a beer here, I stop by just as often to pick up a bottle or can to go because the available selection seems better than what I see at the area retailers. I joined their mailing list to stay up to date on the events held here. The vibe is right at Oak and Steel!

I've been here many times and I have enjoyed my experience here. The staff is courteous and can be helpful if you ask the right questions, but there is some knowledge needed going into this place in a good way. They have a lot of craft beers that are on rotation and featured and it can be overwhelming if you are trying to find one that you like so I will usually search up some ratings and read the description ahead of time before ordering. Overall it is a very chill experience and this is more of a laid-back environment which I prefer. They do have board games as well if you bring people to play and drink with. I signed up to their email newsletter so that way I could see the events that they hold and manage what new beers they will be kegging. Parking is not the greatest but it is not the worst either. Unfortunately no dogs are allowed but they have an outdoor patio that is covered where dogs can hang out. They also have other spirits if beers are not your thing

This place has as much charm and atmosphere as a parking garage...maybe in part because it's actually in a parking garage. I'm certainly not opposed to the location but placing a bunch of new tables and chairs around a sterile concrete cube does not a watering hole make. Sadly, the two staff behind the bar offered no redemption from the poor aesthetic either. They were perfunctory in their job duties, but not cut out to offer a welcoming vibe for new patrons; they served then left and chatted up their regulars. The tap beer selection was top notch with a great offering of 24 taps. About 1/2 local and 1/2 from various up and coming mid size breweries across the nation. I enjoyed a couple of "Fly Me To The Moon Pie", an Imperial Stout from The Bruery in Placentia, CA. My buddy stayed local and ordered a selection from Alma Mader, imported from about 10 blocks away.Service 2 starsAtmosphere 1 starBeer Selection 5 stars

This is a cool, "big city" type bar hiding in plain site. It's inside / underneath a parking garage, so if you're not alert, you might walk right by the chalk sign out front while you're going about your business.I mentioned the bar being somewhat underneath the garage for a reason. It's a nice place to hang when Kansas City's weather is being a little rough. Those sweltering summer days and early evenings aren't as bad when you're sitting in the shade and drinking a tasty adult beverage. The menu is full of mostly local and regional beer selections. There are random national ones too. You can buy them as a normal pour or as a smaller taster-type option. I like the taster option, especially when I'm wanting to try a new beer. There's also whiskey and other spirits. Some of my whiskey friends tell me the bar stocks some solid and premium options. I haven't sampled any yet, but I will mention that if the bartenders are as good at mixing a whiskey cocktail as they are at suggesting and pouring beers, then there's a good chance you're going to enjoy your drink.
