That's pretty sh***y. I mean city. As in North Kansas city.

There is a bit of a Brooklyn effect going on with North Kansas City, and it's cool to see so many various local businesses popping up here. You'll find patios and pickleball at Chicken & Pickle, breweries like Cinder Block, Big Rip and Callsign, the Brewkery kombucha shop, Velo+ bike shop, ROKC rock climbing and more standouts in this neighborhood. It checks a lot of boxes for things I like just based on that. It's also cool to see the dedication to bike friendly roads, despite frequent driver complaints about giving up two feet of space on extremely wide roads. It's not exactly scenic, in fact it's kind of the opposite. It's all very flat and industrial, and surrounded by highways and fast roads. I wish there were some more art projects and tree planting to bolster the aesthetics a bit more.Even though I'm a local Kansas Citian, the design of this city has made NKC seem foreign and far away -- is it the highway system, the dividing line of the river, or just the way this city tends to lean on a pattern of empty space followed by pockets of activity? I think all of the above. However, it's really not far from many things, and you can see downtown clear as day from it. I don't find myself here often, but enjoy the seemingly flourishing small businesses throughout!

Named after Oliver North, North Kansas City is where all conspiracy and war movies are filmed. It's confusing enough to have a KC KS and a KC MO and now there's a North KC (which is MO)... ok.Partly a poor neighborhood and partly a hipster neighborhood, slowly being reclaimed by the gentrification experts, this is an industrial and residential area that is an Eclectic mix of a little bit of everything. There's an amazing bubble tea shop up here, in the mini Chinatown area, and some good barbecue of course - after all this is Kansas City. Not the part of town that most people go to but still well worth exploring.
