Nice shop, nice people. I like the Momento Mori aesthetic but personally am not so hot on Rockabilly Goth. There aren't as many deads/taxidermy items as the reviews and pictures led me to believe and like Oracle they overcharge for their deads. There are some books I never knew existed before (pertaining to death and dying) and if I wasn't on a budget I would have bought them all. Their old timey photos were in general disarray. Hard to sift through. They also overcharged for some prints that one can find in an art book. My partner bought one and I had assumed it was a local artist. If I'd known otherwise I would have haggled. This shop is one of a kind and if you're interested in vulture culture/taxidermy, death and dying, or creepy things it's well worth a visit. I wish St. Louis was open to having one of these kind of stores but I'm not sure if there's much of an audience for it there. In the meantime I don't mind going out of town to visit.

This is a destination for me every time I'm in KC. I was able to visit their new location in West Bottoms on my most recent visit. The new layout is much larger and gives you the chance to really take your time viewing all of the unique pieces they have here.Besides Woolly Mammoth in Chicago, I don't know of another boutique with such oddities as this. I enjoy my visits to Noir so much, when I come back with a souvenir, people always ask me about said item. Sometimes I get weird responses, but until you come here, you really don't know what you are missing. So happy for the new location, keep up the creepiness!

Really interesting place. Especially if coffins, spiders, and doll heads are your thing. Had fun looking at the oddities, ended up going upstairs to check out the antiques. Ended up getting a Paris WWI postcard book. Neat place.

Found these guys by accident on Instagram about 9 months ago. I knew next time I was in KC I had to make a stop. It lived up to every expectation I had. If you have a weird light, let it shine and guide you right in their front door. If you don't have a weird light go in anyways and you may find something to fill that void!

I was so pleasantly surprised when I saw the sandwich-board sign outside that said, "Art, Antiques, and Oddities" with a skull wearing a top hat on the sidewalk of 39th Street for the first time. Initially, I thought it might be too good to be true... Could this really be a store that gets ME, that has the same love and style as myself? Indeed, it was. When we walked in, the shop was filled with black (fitting for a store called Noir) which made it look like there wasn't that much stuff filling the place but that is just the optical illusion of the color and layout of rooms. There is quite a bit of merchandise available. The owner greeted us and helped introduce us to the layout of the store and where to find what kinds of items. So many things to view. There are quite a few antiques, each with their own story. There are vintage medical and lab or photography pieces. Most notable was the natural specimens in a room near the back that is also filled art from local and national artists, a mix that fit so perfectly with the vibe of the store. Don't forget the check out the hand drawn vintage style prints, the amount of detail is amazing. I had such a fantastic experience speaking with the owner because she is incredibly passionate about so many similar things (most of which is showcased in the store directly) and it really shows. If you are someone into oddities or looking for a real original gift for someone that appreciates items that seem very carefully hand selected, this is the place to go. It is also worth mentioning that the prices were incredibly affordable for almost everything in there! Be sure and check out the prices for many of the items and you might be surprised, great values. Even the high ticket items like the taxidermy are very competitively priced at either the typical market rate or slightly cheaper.

If you like unique you came to the right place! This place redefines noir. The shop is full of old authentic medicinal bottles, formaldehyde containers, skeletons, anatomical diagrams, medical pictures, artwork, shadow boxed bones and animals, and a myriad of other very amazing displays. The owner is so friendly and helpful, she really could probably get you anything your heart desires in this vein of interest. The prices very from low end to high end depending on the rarity and complexity of the items in the shop. The higher end items being some of the bigger skulls, shadow boxed creatures, and preserved specimens. Some of the lower end items include bottles, jewelry, shirts, and art amongst many other things. I have been in here twice in the last few months and the merchandise changes often so if you see something you love, your best bet is to buy it soon!

I absolutely love this place! Enough that I own my very own Noir Arts and Oddities T-Shirt! There is an amazing assortment of bric-a-brac, everything your dark and twisted heart desires. My children ages 12 - 20 list this as one of their favorite places to visit, especially on Third Fridays! The staff are wonderful and the owner recognized the family after the first visit. Can't say enough darkly good things about this shop.Things we've purchased:1. Nautilus Shell Necklace2. Two black and white alternative art posters3. Creepy Art Books4. Bat Starfish5. Blockhead Sculptures6. Taxidermy duckling in a silver cup7. There's more...I just can't recall as I write this post!Seriously, if you haven't visited you should. The only critique I have is that we WANT MORE OF NOIR...more space, more oddities, more great service.
