My son has been playing saxophone for years and wanted to pick up bass guitar. A friend recommended Music House to us and we have been thrilled. It's his favorite 30 minutes of the week. Total chill but with a great teacher. Just what a 16 year old wants. That'll keep him going back!

It's such a simple formula, I can't believe that other schools haven't caught on. YOU MAKE MUSIC FUN, AND THE KIDS WILL LOVE IT. I have two sons who both started around 10 years old. One drums, and one guitar. They both wanted to get into music because they thought it was cool, but they both got hooked quickly. In their first semester, they were already performing solo in front of an audience. Within two years, they are playing as a band. And then writing their own songs for the band to perform.Neither of them ever had any interest in playing music in school, but they played / studied / performed from age 10 until they left for college. One of my sons is pursuing a college career in music--something we never would have anticipated when he was young. LET THAT SINK IN. He's going to college for a career in music, and NEVER ONCE played music in school. I credit Music House for stoking his passion in music and preparing him for one of the most prestigious music programs in the country.

So glad that we found this place! Our son started in group guitar lessons in 3rd grade. It held his interest from day 1, as they start the learners right off the bat with popular rock songs - no "Mary Had a Little Lamb" here! Now he's in 6th grade and has progressed through their group lessons and has been playing in one of their bands for almost a year now - that's where the fun REALLY starts. The teachers are amazing musicians and definitely have the "cool" factor. My son just loves the vibe about the place too. He's developed an appreciation for rock music, both classic and new, that is shaping his music tastes. On a practical note, they've always been very flexible and we've made it work for our busy 3-kid family. Concerts are well-organized and fun, and there are more and more opportunities for kids to perform as they progress. The Music House has helped my son discover his "thing." We've seen his confidence skyrocket in other areas of his life as a result. It's not cheap, but if music is your child's primary interest, it's comparable to a competitive sports team or other fine arts. I promise you - if you have a budding rock star - Music House is where you want them to be.

My son started music lessons at Music House a few years ago. He started without any drum set experience and now we are on drum set number 2 because he has outgrown his first one! He started with just a weekly lesson and now he participates in his weekly lesson and is involved in a rock band and the jazz ensemble. I cannot say enough good things about our experience there. He has grown in leaps and bounds in his percussion skills due not only to the excellent instruction he has received there but also due to the large amounts of time and energy he has put in to practicing and getting ready for his classes and rehearsals because he is so inspired by his teachers. The community classes that are offered on weekends are an amazing bonus available to students and we take advantage of those offerings often. The reach of his Music House instruction has gone beyond their walls as well. My son is a much more successful band student at school and knows that he can always bring in a piece from school or for an audition and get the help he needs during his time there. If you are looking for quality music instruction delivered by dedicated and passionate instructors, then Music House is your place.

Our 15-year-old son has been at Music House for 2 years. His confidence in his playing and his comfort in performance (he's an introvert and was quite reticent to be in front of an audience) has increased exponentially in the time he's been there. Their style of instruction has clicked for him and they have "gently" coaxed him into comfortable performance settings that have really done wonders for him, beyond traditional private lessons. He's asked for additional lessons and even played in one of their bands, results we couldn't have dreamed about the year before he started lessons.

I started my journey at Music House School of Music after seeing the incredible progress my kid made as a bassist. It inspired me to finally commit to learning an instrument, something I'd always wanted to do. Both of us started as beginners and, thanks to the amazing instruction, we now perform with bands. Music House truly is an incredible place to learn. Aiden and Jerad, my instructors, have challenged me in ways that have allowed me to confidently call myself a musician. My kid can proudly say the same.If you're looking to learn how to rock, Music House is the place to be!

They are simply amazing!!I've started taking guitar classes here when I had absolutely no knowledge of guitar and it's amazing to see the progress I could make over the past 8 months. All credit to music house!! It's the instructors and management that make this place special, everyone here shares a common love for music and encourage new people starting to learn music. The best part of music house is that they allow students here to perform on stage from the earliest stages of their learning, so stage and showcasing talent in front of an audience is essentially part of learning process for every student here.I'd highly recommend music house to everyone passionate of learning music. You would not just be learning music, you'd be involved with community of passionate musicians. Look no further if you are a young lad interested in music. Just get in there and enroll yourself here if you are old (like I am) and feel like you may be late to start learning music now.

Our experience with Music House started many years ago when our daughter was in Elementary School. She really wanted to take piano lessons so she started in group lessons. She had a good time and after we found that this was a talent of hers, we moved her into private lessons to focus more on her playing. (We did briefly try another venue but found very quickly that Music House is much more responsive to the kiddos and really want them to succeed rather than just filling a class!) She learned a lot and after some time became a keyboardist for an in-house band and was able to improve her skills and have a great deal of fun! After a few years, she decided to focus more on vocals. Music House moved her into private voice lessons. Her vocal teachers have helped her find her voice (so to speak). She is now lead singer in an in-house band and her current band has played together for quite a while. They are able to pick out music which appeals to them and they have even written a couple of songs! They seem to have a great time and the whole band has learned a lot. It's very impressive when they perform for the family and friends at the Grand Showcase! The in-house bands give kids the opportunity to try different types of music and to even write their own songs. This is a great experience and the staff and teachers are so caring and supportive! I also should note that the staff are always willing to talk with parents if there are questions or concerns and everyone is always upbeat, friendly and responsive! I highly recommend Music House for kiddos that are just starting out in music or for those who already know where their talent lies. I also have seen more adults taking classes and building bands at Music House and that is not something I've seen at any other venue. Our daughter is in High School now and is so confident and excited to see where her music talent can take her! Thanks, Music House!

We have been at music house in Overland Park for almost 4 years. My son started out on keyboard and was quickly able to move into drums with Mr. Steve, which is what he really wanted to do. I can't believe how much she has grown musically over the last four years!! He is now in a rock band and is learning how to read music and was chosen to be in percussion at the middle school band. I owe all of this to the Music House! And, it's fun to listen to your 11-year-old run around the house singing rock songs from back when I was in high school! He's really gained such a great appreciation for all different kinds of music because of this program! The staff at music House is very approachable, understanding, and very easy to work with!
