Murdock's Quality Seafood Retail

Murdocks is my go-to for fresh seafood in Kansas City. I drive maybe 20 minutes from south Kansas City and I don't think twice about it. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The seafood is always fresh and it's fairly priced. Great establishment!

Stopped by for the first time today and I gotta be honest - I fell in love with the place as soon as I stepped through the door! Smallish mom & pop type place... I don't know if it's a family business, but it FELT like it and I was instantly a fan. Needed a lot of help because I stopped in for catfish, which I've never cooked before ("Do boneless, skinless catfish fillets even exist?" LOL!), and the folks working there today took great care of me - without making me feel like the dumbass I obviously was. Seemed to have a nice selection of fish and seafood, plus some other meats I wouldn't have guessed (andouille sausage, chicken wings, etc) along with anything you'd need to cook it (mixes, seasonings, etc) or serve it (hush puppy mix, baby corns and the like).In the future, anytime I need something for a recipe, if this place has got it they're getting my business. Just can't say enough good things!

First time in today. Great place wish I would've known about it earlier will be back. Great selection service was incredible.

On 03DEC2022 purchase a whole catfish to be fillet however, the person servicing me began to fillet the fish with a meat cleaver instead of using a boning knife. This has happen to me twice even when I asked could you use another knife due to the fact he leaves so much meat on the bones that you have to take the bone with you. I understand they sell fishbones and it makes it seem like they are ripping people off by selling extra meaty fishbones instead of people getting the true value of their purchase. It did not used to be this way and I've been coming there for a number of years now. Time to find another fish market to patronize.

When I come to visit, I have to make this one of my stops. You get the freshest seafood here and they have plenty of employees to serve you. Christmas Eve was no exception, due to COVID-19 only 6 people are allowed in at a time,but they really hustle to help everyone get in out the cold. I love to come and get the whole Catfish steaked, the pieces are always meaty.

Huge and grateful shoutout to this crew! I just wanted to say thank you! The crab legs we got from your establishment were HUGE compared to the the tiny ones you see at a regular grocery store. A little bit more expensive but totally worth every penny! Didn't taste fishy like they can sometimes, tasted sweet and delicious! So thank you again and I'll most definitely be back to get more great seafood!

I love this place! Having been there several times now, I can assure you the fish is as fresh as you can find anywhere in the Midwest..It reminds me of the old timey butcher and fish shops in the old days where you get personalized service on how you want your meat chopped or filleted, and they even carry it out for you!Highly recommend this shop and the prices are reasonable!

Excellent customer service. Seafood was fresh and delicious. I was hesitant to go to the location but it's right off 71 and it's worth the trip.

One of the best neighbor fish markets ever! Once I discovered this little gem, it made my work relocation experience to N. Kansas City a little bit easier for me. The service, variety of your favorite fish and the employees couldn't be better. Everyone there is from the neighborhood and go out of the way to make a new comment welcomed to keep coming back! Thank you guys for providing a little bit of hometown comfort to a girl from Detroit.
