This was the coolest store! They're living my absolute dream. Super friendly as well. Great selection of new and used books. I didn't expect a children's section and it was precious. Plus, right next to chips & salsa ;)

Plants AND books?? My two weaknesses! Monstera's Books is a super cute addition to the downtown OP area. You can tell the vibes are going to be great the second you walk inside. The staff was so kind, welcoming, and helpful! They have tons of books crammed into this small space - from fiction to travel to kids to classics! And the plants are lowkey cheap (way less expensive than other plant stores in the KC area). Love supporting a woman owned business and indie bookstore!! They have some parking available in a lot in front of the store, but on a busy weekend, you might have to find street parking.

A delightful addition to Downtown Overland Park, a great and vibrant bookstore with a well curated selection of books from a good range of genres. While it's a limited selection they have a lot of variety and great options and are more than willing to order for you if you can't find what you want. They also have a ton of really gorgeous plants that I believe are for sale, but more than anything they add a brilliant pop of green that gives the inside of the store a great ambiance and welcoming nature. It was an easy walk from my apartment down to their store front, the prices seemed fair, and the people I spoke with were friendly and talkative. I picked up a copy of Hard Boiled Wonderland by Haruki Murakami (an absolute favorite author of mine) and The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon, a book I that's been on my radar for quite awhile that I finally today decided to get to support the store. I'm excited to have this spot right here, along with all the wonderful coffee shops by Monstera, you could get a book and then walk over to sit down at homers or Parisi with a coffee and pastry of your choice and enjoy falling in love with a brand new book, or in warmer weather go over to Thompson Park just up the road! Can't wait to shop here again.

My husband and I stopped into this book/plant store while in the area. We were pleasantly surprised (literally) because from the appearance of the front of the store it seems like it would not be as nice on the inside. The inside is very homey, eclectically cool and enjoyable to browse. We liked all the plants displayed for sale among the book displays and the seating as well. We were greeted upon entering and browsed the various book titles. I was a bit confused on some pricing because some books had stickers with their price and others seem not to have any and I am assuming they were just charging the cover price?? The ones with the stickers were reasonable but the books that didn't have stickers were more expensive and could be purchased cheaper online. I think if the outside view of the store matched the inside it might draw more people who see it from the street.

My friends and I stopped in here yesterday during our weekend trip to Kansas City, and I'm so glad we did! Monstera's Books is super cute and has a lovely selection of two of life's joys, books and houseplants. While I am not a plant lady by any means, I am a huge reader, and I thought that the plants were an aesthetically perfect addition to the space. The store is small but very cute, with a strong selection of books across genres. While the books were mostly popular, recent releases, the selection seemed thoughtfully curated, with some less popular/current titles mixed in. Especially in the nonfiction section, I saw a lot of books I'd recently read, and a lot on my "to read" list.My friends and I each bought something to support the store, and the staff/owners (?) were thrilled that we as out-of-town visitors had found our way into the shop. They even gave us some free stickers, which were also super cute.Whether you're local or visiting, make sure to stop by Monstera's Books to pick up your latest read, plant, or both!

What a delightful spot for a bookstore, tucked into downtown Overland Park, right next to Torreador Mexican food, monstera books is a great local addition. Books: good selection of romance, my fave, and all the typical genres including a vintage selection. Prices are similar to other local stores such as Rainy Day and Under the Cover. Interior: good vibes, there's a large selection of locally sourced plants from Lawrence, a comfy couch and seating, and relaxing music. Plenty of warm sunlight and perfect for an afternoon of perusing Owner was friendly and happy to help! The shop is somewhat new and they're planning fun events for summer. All in all, a great visit for a bookworm.
